Car of the Year Competition... winner announced

Postby DouglasH » Mon Sep 15, 2008 12:55 am

As agreed upon at the Planning Meeting (see April 2008 Newsletter), this years 'Car of the Year' competition will be decided at the forthcoming 'Gathering' event, the criteria which was suggested and agreed on is such that:-

It will be open to Central Scotland Members only.

Only Central Scotland Members will have a vote.

You cannot enter again if you have won the Trophy within the past 3 years, unless you have changed your car.

You can only be eligible to enter if you have attended at least five events throughout the year, up to and including The Gathering and not including Pub Meets.

On Sunday at Perth, all Central Scotland Members will be handed a Car of the Year voting slip, you will be able to look at all the cars both at Perth and at Glenshee, the cars which meet the criteria for entry into the competition will have an identifiable sticker on the windscreen, please hand your completed voting slip to Linda Hunter before the end of the buffet lunch.
The votes will be counted and the Trophy awarded to the winner before we leave.

The only event where I don't know who attended is the East Lothian Run, shortly after the Event in May, I asked both organisers of the event to supply a list of attendees, to date neither of them have done so, to this end if you were on that run and feel that would be the difference between your car entering or not please get in touch with me.

Members cars eligible for coty...

COLIN & CLAIRE
ANN & RON
ANDREW KENNY
CHIC & HEATHER
IAN & JACQUELINE
JOHN & HEATHER
RICHARD & EILEEN
ROB & MARGARET
GAVIN
DOT & CHAS
JOE & SUZY
ROBIN
KEV
GORDON & JANICE
DAVID & HEATHER
JIM & ALLISON

The above 16 members will all have attended 5 or more events at the Gathering, as I said I don't have all the names of those who were at the East Lothian run, likewise the Callander Summer run and Tech day. Will need to populate these events with names before the end of the year for Stevie Smith Trophy.
I know about the obvious ones and those who left a message on the event sections, they have been included in the overall count.

I presume part of the criteria is that you also have to attend The Gathering to be entered. Yes?

Sorry Alex, this is what the Members attending the Planning Meeting agreed upon, if you feel this should be changed for next year then by all means either come along to the next Planning Meeting (Jan 2009) or if you can't manage, send in a proposal to be discussed at the Meeting,
likewise if you would like to organise or suggest an Event.

Although Pub Meets are social events, they generate a very high percentage of membership sign-ups, likewise I did not include the Summer BBQ Party Night at Richard & Eileens as a non social Event when calculating members eligibility for the Competition.

Congratulations guys :D

I entered the car once in the Car Of The Year comp, way back in May of 2001 when I attended my first (or second) club run. The only "mod" at that time was the number plate. Needless to say it didn't win......
