Forrestburn Speed Hillclimb - 24/08/2008

Hello everybody. Today I was at Forrestburn for the Hillclimb. Here's our intrepid man Kevin Hamilton in action.

Hope Culzean was nice. Sorry I didn't make it.

Great pics as ever Douglas. I'll nick a couple for my blog, if you don't mind.

I had a poor day, competitively. I was fairly uptight at going back to Forrestburn after my close shave in April and took it far to easy to being with.

First run was a miserable 62 secs! Second run was not much better at 61secs, third run was 60secs and I finally got down to 59.04secs by the last run. One more run and I might have broken my previous best of 58.64secs.

In the end I was last in the class on the day, pipped by the TVR Griffith 500 (I think he did 58.96secs).

Taking positives, I kept it on the track, I was only half a second off my best (set on sticky Toyo 888s), I wasn't quite the slowest driver on the day and I think I might have exorcised my Forrestburn demons.

Also, I get 25 points for the TJ Services Northern Speed Championship (because I was the only championship entrant in my class). This means I've got a really good chance of winning Class R2 of the championship at the final round at Kames on 5 October.

I'm off to buy some new tyres (I'm really not convinced by the Toyo T1-Rs)

here here- i think my 888,s are better in the wet than my T1R,s- a recent return to knockers after the 5/dreadnoght tracknight confirmed that to me

Superb Kevin. You seem to enjoy splitting fractions of seconds with Porches & 5ltr Supercars!
