Crikey. That tank slapper was a bit close to the old tyre wall! Is the car ok?

As for sweary words - I'm sure it just sounds like my 2 year old when he is trying to say "sock" :D

My comedy spin is better from inside the car. I'll try and post some video (no swearing, mind) later this week.

I'm booked up for the 20th as well. It's my first trackday, so a little bit nervous :)

Don't worry, Salami. Friday was my first - it was very wet and greasy but I survived OK. Just watch your mirrors and drive within your limits and you'll be fine. I'd love to do it again, but can't make a midweek date.

Maybe there'll be an MX-5 only one next year (hope, hope, hope)

Hey chaps, I was at my 'other' car club tonight and someone who had spotted me at Knockhill last Friday at the track night recognised me gave me a card.

He was at my car club taking pictures, seems to have set himself up as a motorsport photographer. Turns out he was also at the Dreadnought/MX5 Track Night. There's some pics of the track night that he took at: http://www.circuitexposure.co.uk/meetings.shtml. Sorry about the plug, I'm not affiliated with the chap, he has taken some nice pics.

Thought some of you lot might be interested.

Oh, and here's one of me on the Thursday of the week before:

Love it.

Car seems to be fine, the crunch on the vid is a lot louder than I remembered from the time. I had taken it back out again after removing all the gravel from between the wheel and tyre and nothing seemed broken, it was even handling better as had dropped the tyre pressure. Watching vids from later in the session however there does seem to be a bit of a grumbling while going round some of the corners that I didn't hear while driving. Will get one posted up to get some opinions from you all. Will get the car up on some ramps when I get back in a few weeks to make sure everything is ok in any case.
Was going to sign up for the 20th but realised will be in Norway, are there any later in the year does anyone know? Dreadnought only has the one left.

Well I had a bloody good night too with, fortunately, no ventures off the island.

Some of the machinery (and drivers) we shared the evening with were very impressive. I was surprised there were so few spills considering the conditions - the curb at the chicane was MEGA slippy - and I never really pressed the car through there but managed to find the limit pretty much everywhere else.

I'd have preferred a totally dry track but I think my tyres are grateful it was wet as they hardly wore at all!

Just need to work out whats happened to my Axxis Ultimates, I think they've killed my discs  - new discs and back to 1144s for me I think!

Had a chuckle with Andy x 2 and Mark at the end of the evening... "What's the alignment on your car, Findlay?"

me: "erm... some."

It's never been done but seemed very stable (albeit pretty "safe" and understeery IMHO) according to Lichty who got the last few PAX laps of the evening. Away to collect my new oil filler cap today to make sure I've not killed the engine
Long term MX5-less I miss my 5...

I need to get my allignment sorted as well, but the bolts seem to be seized quite solid so I am still sporting my curious camber set up for the time being. Are you going to the next Dreadnaught night Findlay?

Quick question for the experienced, which gear to select in Scotsman corner (the right hander at the bottom of the drop after the pits) as 2nd gear felt too high and 3rd seemed to low.

Personally I was in second every time through there but back into third for the chicane section. Third would be far too high for me and I'd just bog down, besides, in the dry it's fun getting a bit sideways out of there, not enough correction room in the wet though.

At the moment I've got no plans for another track night this year. A holiday and brakes to pay for
