National Rally 7th September

Postby craig81 » Tue Jun 10, 2008 2:43 am

Hi guys, I'm sure this is probably on here somewhere already, but I got my copy of STHT in today and I was thinking of going down to the national rally at Belvoir Castle on the 7th September; anyone else making the trip from the central belt?

Well, its 350 miles to Nottingham from Falkirk, that's not far from Grantham.

I'm trying to decide whether to book hotel accomodation locally or whether to camp - I wanted to wait and see if there was a consensus from the scottish owners, it'd be easier if we were all going to the same place.

I received a mail today concerning a road closure in the area...

The National Rally programme, which we received in the post, states that one of the roads with access to Belvoir Castle is the A52. During the rally weekend, the A52 is closed for resurfacing from 22:00 hours Friday 5th September to 06:00 hours Monday 8th September between the Saxondale Island (A52/A46) and the Barrowby Junction (A52/A1) which is just on the outskirts of Grantham. For any members coming from the Nottingham direction, when they reach the Saxondale Island they will be diverted up the A46 to Newark and then back down the A1 from the A46/A17/A1 junction. This is a ridiculous diversion both in terms of time and distance. Could you perhaps post a warning on the Owners Club website suggesting that members turn off their SatNav's and find a diversion of their own, from a map. At Saxondale Island they could take the A46 signposted to Leicester then turn off to Cropwell Butler and through the Vale of Belvoir to the Castle (part of our Vale of Belvoir drive) See you next weekend. With kindest regards

Roger F Scott.
