Lands end to John O Groats Run TOPLESS

Postby loftladderman » Sun Jul 18, 2004 6:40 am

From the 3rd to the 6th of September 3 OC Members are doing this run for charities.
TOPLESS.....that is both car and drivers will be topless, but none are ladies ! LOL
Stopping off at various points where they are meeting other OC Members to gather in the loot.

As I am one of these mad men I am looking for some sponsorship from the Northern and Central members.
I am driving from here all the way down to Lands end, collecting Jay and his car on the way in Derbyshire.

We are stopping overnight at Al and Janes and Al is also on the run and is doing the organising of it.

So come on lads and lassies of the Central and Northern areas of bonnie Scotland, lets show everyone, we too can raise some cash for worthy causes and to promote the car we all love, at the same time.

Al can supply this small list of Charities and they are Cancer related !

As I have only been back in Scotland some little time raisng sponsorship is nigh on impossible as no bugger knows me :(
Hardtrack aka Jim has sponsored me though. See below:
I'll sponser Mack 10p a mile....gimme a ring about the lights and the sponsorship .....what charity is it going to?

We have the sponsorship for the stickers for the cars, and promises of loot along the way.
We also require some BREW Stops in Scotland en - route, or even hot soup for us and a doggie biscut for Dax would be appreciated.

ANY owners who wish to accompany us on any part or ALL of the run in Scotland will be more than welcome to join us !
After the run I think we are all making for my place in St Cyrus so the other 2 can rest up before heading South and home again.:-)

Emmmm........I take it you have considered that almost every '5'r' will be at the National Rally that weekend!!!!!

The strange thing is, we, the North of Scotland branch, had actually planned on doing the same run for 'Children in Need', it was on our list of 2004 planned runs.

We were actually trying to get Jordan to do the run topless with us. But, hey ho, what the heck. We don't mind. I'm sure a few men with beards, in boxer shorts will draw more attention

Just read the National forum link as above

Emmmmm........if you think Loftladderman is with 2.5 hours of John o' Groats, think again..................We live 75 miles from John o' Groats and it takes 1.5 hours to get there......and a further 3.5 to 4 hours to get from our house to Loftladderman's area. Mind you, we stick to a reasonable speed (as the club website states, within the legal speed limits ) and, in our roles as joint co-ordinators for the North of Scotland region, we give you fair warning, do not even think about breaking the legal speed limit in our area!!!! The police will hit you very, very hard (apart from the deer, cows and sheep on the road that make serious dents in both your car and your masculine pride) and you will not be driving further than the spot they stop you (or you may be a passenger to a convened court for speeders)....you are not on a motorway, so don't even think about speeds over the 60 mph, you are on wonderful, windy, twisty roads where we treat nutters (who invariably end up in rather deep valleys, nose down :P ), with contempt.

You are most welcome to stop by our house (right on the side of the A9) for breakfast, lunch, dinner, dram, whatever.

Regards,

Bill & Linda Bennett

Joint Area Co-ordinators of the 'Real North of Scotland Region'

ps, I will be out on the road with my uniform on that day.....you know the one....black trousers, white shirt, black tie, chequered band round the cap, give away stripes along the side of the car, and a variety of lights on the roof, and a thing that looks like a hair dryer in my hand. I get so much fun out of doing this

The run is a GOER.

Jay has dropped out but some other madman jumped in...LOL

I am not over worried about the boys in blue and have the technology to combat most of their revenue raising toys.
I know about them 1 mile before they know about me ! LOL

Long ago I got past believeing it was for "Road Safety" !
That was the day I grew up and realised if they fight dirty for their paymasters then one has to fight in a similar manner :-)

I have many friends in the force and realise they are HEROS led by DONKEYS !

Anyway, onto the main chapter THAT RUN.
Bill, thanks, and we would be more than happy to take you up on an offer of refreshments en-route.
It will also give me the chance to rid the car of the dead deer / rabbits / sheep and other road HOGS which commit suicide on it ! ha haaaaaaaa

For anyone else reading this thread please write to Al and Jane about sponsoring us. al_skilt@yahoo.co.uk

The National meet are welcoming us into the Arena on the Sunday I believe.
Topless and Topless...not a pretty sight ! LOL

We know about the OC thinking along these lines for Children in need and we are not in competition and are supporting charities which are in the main cancer related !
I am sure we all know someone this disease in one form or another who has been or is affected by it !
Again Al, will be mailing a list of these on the Main OC Forum.

The orginiser in charge of the (Children in need run) gave us his blessing and I think it was he, who organised for us to be at the National too.

No matter who starts where, we are all doing upwards of 2,000 miles to do this run, with too-ing and fro-ing across the country, and getting to and from start and finishing points.
 Sore bums will rule..ok !

Firstly..Could we keep all correspondence relating to the Charity Run on this topic heading

Mack as I said before..a number of us will be at Weston Park on Sunday 5th September, therefore we will make our donations at the Rally on the day.

I'm quite sure the other Central Scotland members would only be too pleased to meet up and together escort you and your group as you head north. Perhaps someone would care to volunteer their services to organise this and liaise with Mack or Al & Jane.

The North Region could also arrange to pick up the convoy at an agreed point with Central Scotland Region.

Hope this meets with your approval Mack, In Scotland at least, I would like to prevent this from turning into what seems like a melee on the National forum, with postings all over the place and every tom dick and harry, with good intentions I may add, wanting to meet up with you in their home town.

No problems Douglas :-)
Will be done.

I am looking forward to getting FREE admission to the National ! LOL

I know we will not be there for long as we have a long journey after that, but it will be a "fun" thing to drive into the arena for sure :-)
