Hmm, just got a quote from MORIS for Saturday's novice day - £163 with a £1200 excess, basically just covers external damage and subsequent fire damage resulting from impact, nothing else. Hmmmm.

Just got another from Competition Car Insurance - £203 with £1600 excess! It does cover mechanical damage resulting from a smash, though..

Not looking good...

I'm insured with HIC and all I have to do is tell them I'm going on a Trackday and I'm covered (albeit with a £1k excess  ) - Its all part of the policy that just happened to be by far the cheapest I found (taking modifications into account).

Strongly tempted by this though the insurance issue has me a little nervous.

Took me long enough trying to get the car on the road let alone on a track.

Just about got the insurance sorted - AON want to know if the event will be fully marshaled and non-competitive, closed pit (by which I take it they mean only those and such as those are allowed to participate) and flagged and how many cars on track at a time.

I assume the answers are yes, yes, yes, yes and dunno. I'll call Dreadnought tomorrow and check.

Aaarrgh! I just want to get booked in and paid up!

Thought the tracknights were "open" pit lanes?

When I spoke to Dreadnought Garage they said it was an open pit lane.

It's an 'Open Pitlane' but based on Hawkeye's comments, I think his insurer wants to know if the participating cars are prebooked rather than anyone who turns up on the night. I might be wrong though.

Dreadnought said it would be 40 cars max.

At last - booked and paid. Apparently it's all MX-5s apart from couple of Elises so far.

No worries buddy, can easily be organised!

I just hope the Elises aren't running sticky rubber
