DouglasH I was looking around the forum and stumbled across your post re my fav band the Silencers. Uncanny don,t you think considering most people have never heard of them or thought they were defunct.

Just adding myself to the growing list of Silencers fans. I've had "Blues for Buddha" for years.

Roaring down the motorway with "Answer Me" blasting out always puts a huge grin on my face.
Cheers

As soul catcher says its unusual to hear of anyone else that's even heard of them, unless of course you are in France where they have a huge following. First started listening to them in 87 (thanks Billy Sloan) and have a few of the live Radio Clyde sessions taped. Never got the chance to see them live until just before xmas there when Colin (BVR) and I went along, it was a brilliant gig and the new line up is well suited, just sad I never got the chance to see the great Cha Burns play live before he died.
So a few more for the gig at the ABC in 2008.

I,ve been following the Silencers for about 20 years or so and have seen them umpteen times, they really are as good live as on their recordings. As for Cha well what can I say he was simply magnificent on guitar as is sorely missed by this fan, thankfully I saw him play many a time including his last Gig in the ABC last year.
RIP Cha

Absolutely, sc!

If any of you can suggest an album equally as good as or better than "Blues for Buddha" I'll be delighted to have a look for it.
Cheers

Colin to be honest with you they are all excellent albums but try "Dance to the holy man" or "Seconds of pleasure" for starters.

Tried to get tickets but they were sold out after a few days, trust my local paper to print an article after the tickets were sold out the week before.
There may be another batch from a different source, I'm still working on it.

Gig

Postby Rob and Margaret » Wed Feb 20, 2008 12:53 pm

Tried again for tickets and have been put on the list for any returns so it looks as if the ABC gig would be a better option.
