First the bad news...unfortunately there won't be a Central Scotland Track Night this year  , though not for the want of trying. It seems that the small clubs like ourselves are the victims of the successful marketing and business strategy which has turned Knockhill around over the past few years. I made enquiry's back in October and was told that there was only one Friday night available in 2008 and that was early April, was told then that either the corporate side of the business had pre booked them all or as I have since found out if there was racing of any description taking place on the Saturday then the Track was unavailable to anyone on the Friday Night (unlike previous years) to allow practice sessions. With hindsight and experience of organising these events I declined the Friday in April for three reasons:-
1. Because it will probably still be dark at that time of year.
2. Because the chances are the weather will be poor.
3. Because there is less chance of getting the numbers required.

There may have been the chance of some midweek dates but I felt that for people travelling and work patterns nowadays, again it would be difficult to fill the places.

Remember I did say first the bad news, well there may be some good news :D both RichardN and myself have been speaking to Brian the owner of Dreadnought Garage in Callander, the TVR Dealer is one of the big players and are in the comfortable position to be able to advance block book a number of sessions, so with this in mind Brian is quite happy to allow us to piggy back one of their Track Nights, the idea is that as soon as they are announced on the TVR Dreadnought Site, we book onto them immediately, preferably as close to our normal time of the beginning of June, then getting as many Mx-5's secured as possible, understandably this means we will be sharing the track with other Marques such as TVR and Lotus but what the heck, I don't think that should bother us too much, we're in good company.

Just noticed the dates are now posted http://www.dreadnoughtgarage.co.uk/trac ... ckhill.htm
Friday 18th May or Friday 13th July. £60.00 per car

This isn't so bad. The Dreadnought nights are good fun and if we get organised, we'll take it over anyway.

When will the dates be announced and how will we know which one to book up on?

Have to get this tied up pretty soon, what's the feelings on 18th May, sometimes, no most of the time May can be a better month weatherwise than July. My vote is for 18th May.

Was thinking about this earlier and that we need another night at Knockhill. I'll probably just do one (not sure how the finances are looking this year) and would go to whichever was most popular :)
Long term MX5-less I miss my 5...
