Alford gate crash

.... for those that enjoy 'tracking' their car.

Alford gate crash

Postby Detritus » Sun Aug 05, 2007 4:50 pm

Just back from Alford.

There were five 5's there which, considering the weather and the fact that it wasn't our track day and we just gate crashed, was a pretty good turn out. :P

I arrived too late to see the more speed minded of our group traverse the very wet track so I'll leave it to them to give times (or not.)

Still had a good natter and went for an extended walk around Alford looking for a cafe.

Some of those Subarus can shift  and the Mini with the Honda engine was pretty quick too.

Sorry only managed a couple of photo's it was a bit too wet to wander around with a camera.

This is the 5 contingent.

And one other of note. This poor guy forgot to brake on coming into the curve and the grass allowed him to keeping going until he met the barrier.
He seemed to be ok but some damage was done to a lovely car.

Nice to see Finlay, Rocdoc, Malcolm and Ecosse again.

Yip- good turnout considering it wasnt a 5 event.
god to see yis all again- thanks to Robin for making the trip(sorry didt see you before i left).
Interesting day- only managed first lap in dry- 72 secs, then 3 or 4 others in pretty wet conditions- 74-76 secs.
Good fun though :D

Worth any journey to watch the "Red Arrows" & good to catch up again.
I had long forgotten what a breathtaking road the Spittal of Glenshee was....which is why I was late. Stopped at the ski centre and soaked it in.
The 5's were "entertaining" in the wet...but, as said, a shame for the 2 day old Scooby. He shifted 2 railway sleepers, broke the post, and drove off with relatively little damage. See most of you next Sunday then.
Surely the Club will have one dry-ish day!
Will we mention Malcolm having a fag break, while hood down on opposite lock  & doing some voluntary grass cutting? Ok...better not!

Yup, good fun had by all (apart from our white Scooby friend)...

Think Doc was the only one to get out when the circuit was properly dry - had my wipers going for the first run with my mate in the car

Will work on uploading some of my pics tomorrow...

Look forward to seeing footage, was planning to go myself but didn't want to risk it with oil pressure query.
