Run this Sunday with RX8 Owners Club

I have been communicating with the Scottish Rx8 O.C. with a view to organising some joint events for 2005, however seeing as they have an informal meet this Sunday I suggested that we may have one or two cars that would be interested in joining them, I just received the confirmation on this tonight, so if anyone is interested meet at Stirling Services 10.30 for 11.00am Sunday 12th December, must stress it will be a relaxed meeting probably no route but follow my leader kind of thing, the run will most likely head over the kilsyth hills towards fintry then possibly Loch Lomond. The main purpose of this run is to meet and befriend the guys from the Rx8 O.C, there might be Honda S2000's, Alfa GTV's and Fiat Coupe's there too.
Let me know either here or by Pm if your coming, hope we can muster a few cars.

Would love a day out, but it's our staff night out tonight and I need to be anaethetised before I see the bill! :shock:

Altho' the dogs will ensure an early rise, I think the garage might be 'out of bounds'....

Three Mx-5's turned up bright and early at Stirling Services and were soon joined by the other four cars, a very fast and highly enjoyable run through the Carron Valley, stopping for a photo call at the Tak-ma Doon road viewpoint, then it was on to Kirkintilloch via the splendid B road past Twechar and alongside the Forth & Clyde Canal, back across to Campsie Glen and Lennoxtown then over the Crow road to Fintry, followed by a switch back to the Stockiemuir road and onto Drymen for lunch. An excellent day out with good company and some fast but safe driving. Thanks to our Simon and Phil for turning up to what we hope will be the start of a long term friendship with the...

since none of the Rx8 Owners could manage, the other four cars were all from the SK2 club.

Hi there just a quick note from S2kers to the good gentlemen how joined us for the phantom RX-8 meet on Sun. It was thoroughly entertaining and the company was excellent. I have now organised a couple of cross make meets and they are good fun and give the opportunity for much discussion and fun that goes beyond focussing on a single make.

As I am now a member of the GTV, RX-8 and S2ki forums (serious midelife crisis this year - a long story :roll:

) I plan to encourage such meets on a regular basis. Hope to see you all again in the New Year

The run yesterday ranks up there for me with track days at Knockhill and was thoroughly enjoyable, and despite having cars that cost considerably less it certainly didn't seem to be an issue for the S2K owners.

Hi Si, great day out wasn't it.

If you enjoyed it, then feel free to join us on any of our meets, (just keep an eye out on the JockMeet thread on S2Ki). Usually one every couple of weeks during winter and once a week during summer.
The summer meets tend to be a bit longer though. 180-200 miles is the norm

There's certainly no issue for the S2k Jocks on what somebody drives. We're all car enthusiasts and even let the odd Boxster owner join in :mrgreen:

(We have a hard time understanding the Saxo boys, but hey, they're still car enthusiasts).
I've owned 2 MX5's and had a ball with them. Wish I'd supercharged one of them though. :wink:

Hi Douglas,

Did you see the potential MX5 Scotland member in the one of the pictures?

Look at the second picture, taken in the Tak-Ma-Doon car park. That Cow in the background looks real interested!

You could adjust that pic on photoshop, maybe give it a baseball cap.

Hmmm....not that I was looking that closely, but it might be a Bull.

It's only a few miles from here, so I'll go up there tomorrow wearing a red jacket and see if it chases me. :lol:
