Don't worry about the recommendations, I've looked up and booked a hotel on the net. :P

Staying at Poppies, just out of town and plenty of parking.

Is anyone else staying there?

I had emailed a booking request to Poppies but never got a reply but I have somewhere now so not too bothered. We might have to arrange a convoy down for us northern bods.

We are the same for a Satruday morning departure. We can book in from 10.30 at the digs. We have to put dogs in kennels so not sure if that would mean a 9am start at the earliest or if we put them in on the friday we could go sooner on the saturday. Plenty time to sort it out though.

I managed to get a room at Poppies too.
Some rooms are still available at the Dalgair Hotel, (if your quick) book online through www.booking.com
Thanks to Chic & Heather for link.

I chose Poppies over theDalgair because it has more parking Dalgair says it only has space for ten cars.

We will be going on Sunday. Its the long haired ones birthday on Saturday , so marital disharmony will ensue if I dont take her out Saturday night. We will arrve pretty sharp on Sunday, as we live only 14 miles away.

If you like living on the wild-ish side (but stopping short of camping) Thornhill wigwams (http://www.wigwamholidays.com/Mains_Farm_Wigwams) still have spaces free. £15 pp per night.
Also, Annfield Guest House may still have a double room free but you have to take both Sat and Sun nights.
