Newbie from Aberdeen

Postby findlay » Mon Jul 03, 2006 1:20 pm

Afternoon all and thanks to everyone on the UK site for pointing me here.

Picked up my new car on Saturday and enjoyed my first spirited drive taking it home across Glenshee, it proved what a great little car it is (despite no roof - praise indeed after my caged up 205 Mi16). Apart from an altercation with a sheep (they do rule the Glenshee road officially) its home in one piece and hopefully will keep me entertained for some time to come. 8)

I'm certainly surprised that, despite its average power output and power/weight ratio, it'll go lairy sideways in the wet and the dry (not that the other half was overly amused).

Anyway, I'm from Westhill just outside Aberdeen so if anyone sees my bright red Ph1 P plater buzzing around be sure to wave...

I'll look forward to meeting a few of you at meetings etc soon.

Findlay

Indeed - welcome aboard.

Rockdoc would say that about the colour seeing as his is red too :!: Razor Blue is the best really, trust me

I'm in Old Aberdeen and wave to everbody.

Maybe a run soon would be good but if time is not suitbale for all, maybe a wee informal pub meet some evening or weekend afternoon would be good, just to put names to faces etc

If what was said on a previous post is correct (not doubting you Douglas) and there are only 57 members in North of Scotland, I dont think there can be too many in the Aberdeen area itself since the whole area covers the rest of the North of Scotland :? :? Just a thought anyway...answers on a post card

Sorry Sarah

Funny though I think it's a fitting car for an old married man too.

Good idea Lorraine, I could possibly come through a Wednesday evening, or meet at a pub between.

Paul, where do you suggest as a pub half way kind of thing? Old Meldrum or Huntly????

I suppose it depends on who all wants to meet up really. If people come from far flung areas then a happy medium is good but if most are from Aberdeen and immediate surroundings then closer to home might appeal more. Of course, should it become a more regular "doo", then spreading out the venues would be good too.

Maybe we could use the pub meets to see how folk feel about organisng runs or more formal (but informal :? ) get togethers.

Should we start a poll to see what the response would be in the first instance to a one off pub meet?

Loraine,
I see a budding Area Co Ordinator in you  You obviously have the skills.
I don't mind coming to Aberdeen if weather is good for hour or so, but Tuesday and Thursday evenings are out.
Like you say if it becomes reg monthly/bi monthly then we could move around.
Would be good to get together more often though, might encourage others to come too.

Shucks

Well, I wouldn't mind but I do not have the time to organise runs etc until after next June. I don't mind being a point of contact sort of thing though.

Andy, you do a good job of getting runs off the ground so maybe you can keep doing that  .

In fact, if a co-ordinator is needed just because we need one, then why can't we all plan runs when we feel like it. Not even sure that they need pre-run (do they??) if we are on more or less local or known roads. I can see the point for more far flung drives though.

It's a shame the area is so spread out. Can't see how we can really feel like a cosy "lets all do things together" area with some members so far away and never likely to be seen. Makes meeting up a tad difficult.

Anyway, off to take the dog to the vet then back to studying
