Options to Braemar

Postby alexgee » Thu Jul 04, 2013 11:35 pm

Playing golf in Braemar tomorrow and have decided to stick the club in the passenger seat of the 5, weather is looking good for roofdown.
All I need to do now is decide in route, google gives me 3 options ranging from 54.4 miles (1hr39), 65.6 miles (1hr42) and finally 71.4 miles (1hr47) from my home in Laurencekirk.
Shortest first is straight over the Cairn o'mount to Aboyne and then up A93
Next is south to Kirriemuir and then over Glenshee
and finally up to Stonehaven for the Slug to Banchory to join the A93.

I am very very tempted by the idea of going over Glenshee but although the Cairn o'mount is on my doorstep I have yet to go over it in the year I have had the 5.

I will take a few pictures on route to share

I did just this, both ways. It was a glorious day and the roads were fairly clear which gave me the chance to really enjoy the car for what it is. The vast majority of my miles have been up and down the A90 with only short country road blasts, so this was a real treat.
