I looked through all 94 pics in your photobucket album! Great pics of some stunning scenery and a very, very nice car.

I really am looking forward to my trip and have my fingers crossed for some nice dry and bright autumnal days. It looks as though you had fantastic weather during your trip. I'm glad you had the chance to experience Scotland and it's roads and scenery at its very best.

Our cars are pretty similar and I really like the look of yours with the front number plate sticker. Think I will be investigating that option when I put my new plates on.

Hi H,
Just back from the trip and have posted a write up and some pics. Very different weather to yours but still brilliant fun and jaw dropping scenery.

So, after Skye in 2013, Mull in 2014, am planning Harris for 2016!!

It's 444 miles from my house in Leeds to Uig to pick up the ferry to Harris . . .

Any recommendations for roads in Harris/Lewis and things to do? Obviously I'll be buying a tweed cap . . .

Cheers, Howard

I really enjoyed the ride and walk along the Callanish Standing Stones - absolutely fascinating. https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Attractio ... ebrid.html

I also read this RV rental site for its road trip guides - you can find some recs for Lewis and Harris on the Scotland trips page: https://www.campanda.com/

Tweed all the way - have a blast !

I'm not even sure where home is. Probably Terminal 5. There is a strange sense of calm about arriving back at Heathrow.

I forgot to ask: if you had to choose between Mull and Skye, which one would you go to again?

Thanks,
Jim

We are hiring a motorhome and heading up to Skye in July. Plan is then to ferry over to Lewis/Harris and go visit friends in Great Bernera.

We will then be staying in Horgabost campsite for a few days, and plans include Windkarting on the beach with Harris Outdoor, also a Segway tour around Lews castle in Stornoway!

Hoping the weather gods are kind to us, and if I see a red MX5 in our rear view mirror, I will pull in to let you past and give you a toot :D :D
Previously in a 2003 Montana, now in a 1991 V-Special...

Personally, Skye, better roads, more to do and some fantastic food, particularly here; http://www.skyeoysterman.co.uk/

We did (in MX-5's) Ullapool - Stornoway, Leverburgh - Berneray, Eriskay - Barra and Barra - Oban (with the ferry calling at Coll and Tiree). This was a HopScotch ticket, very reasonably priced).

Stayed in Harris, Lochboisdale and Barra.

Great experiences and some nice driving, good food and drink also.

This is one of the more remote and interesting distilleries around, well worth a visit; http://www.abhainndearg.co.uk/

Been meaning to report back on my Leeds - Skye - Harris & Lewis trip over the Summer!
Brilliant, obviously . . .
Amazing beaches in Harris, Callanish Standing Stones, Blackhouse Village and Musuem, swimming in bay at the Butt of Lewis (bit chilly).

Wondering about doing an island hop next year: Oban to Barra and then all the way up to Stornaway and over to Ullapool . . .

Photos here, hopefully, first 20 or so is this year:
