MX5..Which model..?

I was browsing through a site and found this info , might be of some interest to those looking to buy an MX5 but are confused about the various MK numbers and spec : MK1

Cars from 1989 to 1997 are classed as the MK1 of the MX-5. These cars were fitted with popup headlights from the factory and chrome oval outer door handles.

These come in three versions in the UK. The Mazda MX-5 is a car sold for the UK market if in normal Right Hand drive format. The Eunos Roadster is essentially the same car, often with many more extras, that was initially sold into the Japanese market and has since been exported to the UK. Finally the Mazda Miata is the US version of the car and will be Left Hand Drive.

MK2

Cars from 1997 to 2001 are classed as the MK2 of the MX-5. These cars came as standard from the factory with oval headlights and a more curved overall look. Sidelights are integral to the main lighting unit, and the lights no longer popup.

Three major versions exist, Mazda MX-5 ( RHD for UK market ), Mazda Roadster for Japanese market and Mazda Miata for US market ( LHD )

MK2 facelift ( MK2.5 )

Late 2000 the revised MX-5 was introduced to the world and in July 2001 was released to the UK, although some were available from Europe during the early part of 2001.

This has minor cosmetic changes to the car with many of the parts staying the same as the prior MK2 model. Some have dubbed this the MK2.5 model.

Most noticeable are the revised single piece seats, where the previous UK seats were two piece units.
