dim headlights

Postby JohnL » Mon Feb 07, 2005 7:10 pm

Hi all,

The headlights on my Mk2 1998 1.8iS are pretty rubbish. Any tips for getting more light out of them?

Thanks!

I just fitted a set of Osram H4 silverstar bulbs to my mk1 and got the alignment adjusted at the local mot garage - the results are quite impressive. Only ?14.49 + ?1.79 next day delivery off ebay, definitely worth a look. A significant improvement on the previous set which were halfords 'best'. Should fit a mk2 no problem.

Thats a good price normally ?25.00 a pair. Silverstars won the 'best in class' in the annual Auto express bulb test.

I too am disappointed with the brightness of the headlights and after reading this thread I have invested in the Silverstar bulbs which arrived today.

Any tips for fitting? I guess it's straightforward enough, do you access from behind?

Will these work on the MK2.5, appears to be a different fixing to the bulb.

Oops, I didn't think of that! Will let you know, might try and get them fitted at the weekend if it's dry and if I can be bothered.

Just when I bought my MK2.5, one headlight bulb was missing, and Arnold Clark :( triedto get a MK2 to fit, and it doesn't. The connections on the bulb itself turn through 90 degress rather than the standard straight out connections.

My company sell these bulbs at around ?10.20 a pair + vat

let me know as I am the UK sales manager for them. I might be able to sort a group buy for Club Members! I have them in my MK1 and they are great!
