Flashing 3rd Brake Light

Postby gm » Wed Jan 26, 2005 6:25 pm

Has anyone fitted one of these ?

The box fits in-line with the boot lid brake light and flashes it when the brakes are applied, attracting the attention of the driver behind who is busy on the phone / doing their lipstick / changing the radio station etc. It sounds like a good idea, but i'm not sure if it would be strictly legal.

Any info would be welcome. (especially a uk supplier)

Hi gm!

No experience of these, but looks OK.
Looks like they're prepared to ship outside the US and will e.mail costs before accepting order.
I've bought many things over the "net", and have no bad experiences - try it!
At current ? v. $ - it could be a bargain...?
Until someone tells you it's illegal...... :(

Another fine example of
"low-flying technology!"

the guys on the national forum seem to be talking about a unit that makes the brake light flash all of the time when the brakes are on. the signal dynamics unit can go "flash, flash, flash, on for 3 secs...repeat" or "flash, flash, flash, flash, flash, on constantly". this should avoid upsetting other drivers once their attention has been caught.

i couldn't find anyone who supplies them in the uk so i'm just going to buy online.

having been very nearly rear ended twice recently, i reckon it's worth a try.
