Roadster Temperaure Query

Postby lochpark » Mon Dec 20, 2004 10:08 pm

New to the forum and the Roadster, its a 92 recently imported 90k kms. Years of company cars have ensured that when I have a problem I just book it in, however, I intend to look after this one myself (Well at least the simple jobs)

When sitting idling the temp gauge will rise to just below centre and I get warm air out the heater, start to move and the temp gauge drops quite quickly as dosed the temperature of the air coming out the heater ducts.

Anything over 50 and the gauge sits around the "C", not very handy at this time of the year.

I thinking that the thermostat must be stuck open ?

Any thoughts would be appreciated. :?:

Hi Lochpark,
you could be right about the thermostat being stuck but other possible causes could be air in the system, a slight blockage somewhere or worse case scenario a knackard water pump. I would test the thermostat first if I were you. Also try a search on the national site others are bound to have had this problem before. Hope it's an easy fix.

Change the Thermostat, water pump would not do that
