As you are in Banff what about phoneing your nearest Mazda dealer and ask them who they use.

It does not appear to be that difficult any garage should be able to do it.

Instructions here print them off and give them to a garage.

Shame RichardN isn't in Callander any more. He used to do a fine job, was an active member here and a big MX5 fan. I think he moved away to Englandshire somewhere.

Semi-related, I just took a "wee" run down to Swansea to get a roof put on my MR2 Roadster. I asked over and over at various MR2-related places but one name kept coming up, Jack Smith in Swansea. You can't get much further from Aberdeenshire! So, anyway, I bit the bullet and made a week long touring holiday out of it. 2500 miles later, my 18 year old MR2 has a nice new black fabric roof. Much nicer than the old, cracked vinyl original.

Adrian at BorderMx5 does not do hoods any longer.
One Scottish accessible fitter would be AK Automotive nr Newcastle.
Other than that:

Andrew moved lock and stock from Portsmouth to Dumfrieshire last year, and now has his spare parts business there.
You will need to source a good complete hood and frame, take it with you somehow ( or get it delivered there) and he will fit that in around 2 hours for around £100.00.
At this stage, they cannot reskin existing frames, and have no good ones in stock at this time.
There will always be an imbecile you never bargained on within slapping distance.
You can never underestimate the stupidity of the general public
