Hi pabno1

Well bless him, some wee thief had your sterio away and cut your hood to do it poor lad.

If you were a caring sort of person you would have left your doors unlocked and keys in the ignition so he could just have driven it away and removed what he wanted at his leisure !
WHAT sort of man are you ? Sheesh !

I hope you APPRECIATE he has had a bad upbringing and a miss spent youth.

Poor wee soul never had what you have so decided to nick it.
I do hope he is enjoying it ?

HANGING IS TOO GOOD FOR SOME THIEVING GITS !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just bought a new vinyl hood for my 5 from http://sftmx5parts.co.uk/, which seems like the kind of place i should have know about a long time ago. Very good list of parts and a nice guy at the end of the phone, reminded me to get the tension cables as well which is handy as one of my ones is broke and the other has never been replaced.

I am also going to get Richard in Callander to install it after i spoke with him today. Just waiting for the parts to arrive.

I will let you know what the quality of the hood is like and how the install goes when i get a chance to have it done.

Thanks for the info.

you wont be disapointed

Postby loftladderman » Tue Aug 17, 2004 5:48 pm

I have bought 3 hoods for 3 of my cars, from David this year and Richard fitted all 3.
2 Vinyl (Black) and 1 Mohair (Red).

The quality is superb on ALL the hoods, and you will have to go far to finder a nicer bloke than that dry old bugger Richard, to fit it...he is MAD of course, no doubt about it. LOL

If he has his partner in crime with him things get even funnier ! :-)

BUT...you can pick Richards brains on just about ANYTHING MX5 related and he will tell you it how it is !

I DO....often !

Enjoy Calander and the surrounding you will find yourself in.
Absolutely beautifull !

IS that the same guy? LOL - i've been hoodwinked. ;)

As for the tension cables, they are about 7 quid each from http://sftmx5parts.co.uk/, and if you have an older car and they have never been replaced, then your probably better off replacing them - i mean whats 14 quid now when it could save you a hell of a lot of hasstle later.

Wires

Postby loftladderman » Wed Aug 18, 2004 4:15 am

If you car is an older model I would change the wires as a matter of course.
I even bought a spare rain rail and was GLAD I did as one of the cars required it !

Well, had my roof fitted yesterday - and despite turning up with a stinking hangover i had a good day all said and done.

The roof that i bought from the shop linked above is really good quality - im quite impressed actually concidering the price.

The guys were awesome too - really friendly peeps - and despite some crazy kids (EEEEeeeeee :D) they were very professionaly about it (even stopping to vac out a small amount of dust that fell onto the inside of the hood at one point) and it was done in about 4 hours.

And during that time i was able to get a load of 5 related questions asked and answered.

Can't recommend these guys enough.

Many Thanks if your reading this.
