Welcome Back

Postby Si » Wed Jun 23, 2004 1:54 pm

Welcome to the new MX5Scotland forum. Due to a server crash with our former web hosts (Ghoulnet) all previous data, including event reports and photos, has been lost. However, this gives us the opportunity to revamp the site and bring it up to date.

Please remember to reregister with the forum and let us know what you'd like to see on this site! Work will begin very soon so get your ideas in quickly!!

Thanks guys :)

Wonder if we could get sponsorship from any Scottish Mazda dealers to help pay for bandwidth! Any A/C's like to comment?

:( Why not?

If pushed, I'm sure I could send out a few friendly letters to some of the dealers requesting cash in return for non-obtrusive advertising space!

Sponsorship

Postby Phil » Thu Jun 24, 2004 6:20 pm

I'm calling into Bickets of Kilmarnock tomorrow (Friday 25th) so I'll see if I can get anybody interested in parting with cash in return for advertising.

Si

How much does it cost? Do we have any existing help?
We give support to a number of potential Sponsors - car parts, servicing, fuel, hotels/restaurants - there must be a few possibilities?
Gordon.

The cost of hosting is covered by the two areas, but our bandwidth allowance per month is 1Gb. Apparently I can request another 1Gb, but I'm not sure how much extra that costs. However, if we go over our agreed limit in any month (whether it be 1 or 2Gb) there is a ?15 charge for every 1 Gb over.

This seems to be the price to pay for having a host who backs up their servers, and offers all the facilities I/we need.

Even if we could get sponsorship to the tune of ?30 a month it would really help! Two companies at ?15 per month getting the attention of enthusiastic MX-5 owners isn't a bad deal :)

Thanks again for the kind words. Makes it all worth while when you know the work is appreciated!

Updates to the main site aren't coming along quite as quickly as I had hoped due to personal circumstances. I don't see this being too much of a problem given that the forum is up and running and information about events can be communicated that way.

I'm off on holiday between Friday 2nd July and Sunday 11th July, so if there's anything needing uploaded to the site before then please forward it to me before Friday! (simonfrATsimon-fraser.com)

Surely there's a Mazda dealr who would like advertising all over the forums & website for a measily 30 quid per month!!!

I remember Arnold Clarks Mazda used to offer MX5OC members 10% off parts & servicing. Is this still the case? If so they would maybe willing to part with 30 quid a month to cover loads of free advertising!!!

Could you not have a wee whip around at each club run to cover the web charges? Surely the gang would be adept to throwing a quid or two in the hat once every while to cover bandwidth charges........... :?:

I would happily throw a quid or two in to the pot if I was on a club run. Then again, considering I killed my MX5 (probably a nice steel cube rusting away in a smelting plant somewhere), and it's gonna be next year before the replacement comes along it's gonna be a wee while before I turn up at a club run!!! :D

I'm lookin forward to shocking you all with my presence!!!

Well done Si, I really do like the new site. This is a first class job. If there is anything I can do to help recover any of the data on the old server, just give me a shout.

Regards,

Bill
