Anyone fancy getting "steamin'"?

Postby OldSpice » Wed Oct 31, 2018 1:31 pm

Thought this may make a 5 day out for some.... with a difference.
I sailed on PS Waverley as a nipper with Papa who (I think) got concessions being a Clyde ship cabinet maker.
I've signed up to the Waverley Info site which will, in Spring 2019, send out timetables & prices.
Expect around £40.00 a head from (typically) the Science Museum embarkation from Glasgow to Brodick, Isle of Arran. Cheap or what?
Apparently..the cream teas are good.
I'll be doing the Arran one for sure. We owned a cottage there.
As a non-paying former OC "Luddite" that's all from me.
If those in charge fancy setting up something (well...different)...just do as I did and go into the Waverley website and sign up for eventual info.

Just imagine,
Free from no cupholders, squeaky roofs, dodgy Sat-Navs, grindy 'boxes, and extracting another 1.45mpg for a few hours

The good lady advised that the Jeanie Deans was a better ship. The Jeanie Deans was scapped in 1966.

Which means the Waverley is demonstrably the finer craft of the two now.
Given that...it's still afloat!

Well you can try arguing with her but I find that a waste of time!
