MX5 Fastback

From Banzai magazine:-

Mazda has just unveiled it's latest addition to the MX-5 line-up: the RF (Retractable Fastback), with a folding electric hardtop.

Whatever you call it, I think it looks stunning!!

Also contained in AutoTrader with numerous pics. Not quite the open top motoring of today's model. ... d-top-mx-5

When I was in the showroom last week I was given a copy of the 'All-New Mazda MX-5 RF (Retractable Fastback FAQs'. It makes interesting reading.

Lovely looking car but I'm not convinced about the engineering design. It looks like a targa top but unlike a proper targa it does not have the added rigidity a fixed B pillar and rear window surround would provide. Those XJS style 'flying buttresses' will surely impede over shoulder checks and also cause visibility issues at angled junctions.
More attractive than the NC PRHT maybe but not as clever.
