Mk1 Gleneagles

Postby steveo » Tue Aug 17, 2004 5:25 pm

Hi All,

Just bought a MK1 Gleneagles and live in the Cumbernauld area. Just after some advice on a few niggly bits. Clutch release bearing is noisy in fact it now squeals when clutch is disengaged is this common? I have a few minor marks and was wondering if anybody can recommend a decent bodyshop ro repair some very minor bits (i/m fussy!) as the car is montego blue and has that wonderful mica paint! If anyone owns a 5 near me give us a shout so we can meet up and talk cars!!!

Steveo..the noise I believe you might be referring to, is commonly known as Mx-5 Seagull Clutch, :? cause it sounds like a seagull when you depress the clutch pedal, usually only just after start up and then noise tends to dissapear after a few miles. Its due to the end of the rod twisting in the slave cylinder piston and can be silenced by putting a blob of grease (silicon or rubber) in the slave cylinder, my Mk2 suffers from this too.. if only I could find time to fix it.
Welcome to the world of Mx-5, prepare to be hooked. :)
