Free wine, BBQ, music....Genuine invite for MX5 enthusiasts!

A few of you may have heard of Dreadnought Garage in Callander. They are agents for TVR & MG Rover. They are also proper enthusiasts in all that's involved with performance motoring. Well, they have just recently moved to brand new state of the art premises on the outskirts of Callander, and they are having an "Enthusiasts Open Night" next Friday, 20th August.
My job as Sales Manager for Toyo Tyres means that I call on them every now and then. When I was in today, we got talking about cars in general and then onto MX5's and Roadsters. I was telling them that they have had a couple of nice mentions on this site and they were genuinly pleased. So.....they have suggested that I post this invite for all members of the O/C and any other forum user. They would be delighted to see anyone who cares to drop by, they will show them the latest laser alignment gear and they will talk about cars all night long. They have a bit of a soft spot for MX5's too it seems and they say most of the owners seem like decent folks who know how to have proper fun in their cars.
Also, and here's the best bits....they'll be happy to give anyone who turns up, a discounted price for setting up their alignment and camber etc. They'll also be happy to offer you a discount on some Toyo's too (although that bit will probably cost me and not them!!). They will also be laying on a glass of wine and a free BBQ, along with some Scottish folk music. Anyway, leave a reply if you need any more info, or just so I can let them know if anyone is likely to turn up.
Hope to see you there.
Friday 20th August, around 7.30pm.

Greg & Nic...I would be interested in going along to that. Graeme and I were only the other day discussing the possibility of asking the Dreadnought Garage if they would be interested in holding a group alignment and camber check day for Central Scotland / North Scotland members, sort of extended Technical day, anyway thanks to your good self for thinking of us.

Should be an interesting night, what's the chances of test driving a TVR

Discounted alignment and camber sounds a great offer - will they be doing that on the night? very interested as last time I tried Kwik Fit they said there was a bolt/nut they couldnt shift!

Zoom Zoom...KWIK FIT?????? Did they maybe also say that it was a specialist job "sir" and it's going to cost you a zillion pounds!
Find an independent garage with a proper mechanic to sort yer car....like Dreadnought for instance. And no, they won't be doing the alignments on the night but they'll be happy to get you booked in and sorted for a time that suits you.
Also, to all the folks that are thinking..."Callander is miles away and I'd have to wait around". Well I can think of worse places to have to hover around for an afternoon till yer motor gets fixed (properly!).
The people at Dreadnought are a scarce breed....they like cars, they like fast cars, and they like even faster cars! And they take pride in sorting things right...so in my book, worth their weight to be honest.
Get yerselves along next Friday...we can have a gas about 5's till the beer runs oot!

WHY

Postby loftladderman » Sun Aug 15, 2004 6:49 am

SUGAR !
I am away ripping off....erm...working for clients in England again !
I am not sure I can get back for THIS one :-(

When I am at "home" no one organises anything much.
When I am "away" its all happening !
I am starting to get an inferiority complex over this

People seem to find out when I am "away" then get things organised !
I dont mind as even "I" would not want to join a club that had "ME" as a member ! LOL
Regards from Mack

Excellent....that seems to be five or six possibles....will be nice to see the car park full of MX5/Roadsters. And if you all bring a passenger we can back each other up when the fighting between us and the MGF owners starts!! Mind you it's a great place for the MG's to be when they break down eh

MGF owners won't be there, the Rover/MG night was last Thursday after the Tracknight. This is for TVR owners (and mx5oc)

Heard a lot of good things about this place, if I can off work early enough will come too if OK. Long way from Moray Firth Coast though.

Looks like there's going to be a decent number of 5 owners going now...
nice to see if we're all as daft as each other.......in that I mean...I still find myself just sitting admiring the car for no good reason...I actually enjoy keeping it clean and shiny...I would spend fortunes on it...I make excuses to drive it etc etc. What is it about these things? Feckin 3 grand car, 13 years old and it's got me hooked...and from a guy who's had Alfas, Audis BMW's Golf GTi's etc. Very strange phenomenon..
