Loving the valve cover, not a fan of the stripes, particularly the side ones.

Do you know how long the stripes have been on there?

If not too bad, a machine polish of the car will see any colour issues gone.

Last night i decided to remove the white stripes

So i started on a small area that if it was fucked under the stripes you wouldnt notice as much, so i looekd and thought above the windscreen and the softtop area would be good idea, just two small patches

they came off ok, left a little glue and the paint wasnt faded at all...result

after asking what was best to use to remove the glue majority of the answers came back Tar and glue remover...so i bought Autoglym intense TAR remover

and got stuck in and removed the glue

Image

Out came the heat gun and i removed all stripes from Bumper to bumper
Image
Image

u can see glue marks or faint lines from dirt build up at the stripe edging

Image
Image

Squirt some Tar remover onto a cloth and batter in...

After a few hours of vigirus rubbing and cursing and tea breaks i was getting somewhere but there was alot of glue still laying and not budging, especially at the buldge area of the bonnet, but persistance soon got it away

After

the bonnet still has some areas of grease on it, but i'm running short on time as i've things to do tonight...so they can stay there for now, maybe monday i'll give it a polish or something and try see if that'll clear up the remanders of the grease

But aye, well chuffed...now i will get the side ones done...only took me a year to finally get them off LOL

yeah i didnt like them...i did at first i supose but i think i out grew them.

Bought some new dials
Image

fitted them and actually fucked up a little (LAWL) the needles didnt read correct and silly me didnt take pictures of where they all sat BEFORE i removed them...but all bar the petrol gauge are correct now...the petrol one i am going to have to fill the car to find out exactly where to set it lol

Also a guy on mx5nutz was selling a kit to make ur temp gauge read more accurate than just sitting at the halfway mark

Image
few solders and removal or some resistors and a zenner diode i had something like this
Image

n now it reads just over halfway :| pretty much pointless luckly i didnt pay his prices lol

few other bits on route to me which i'll update

also updated my door speakers to some Carrozzeria TSC 160 with tweeters which i am waiting to hook up until i get a wee fiberglass pod made up for

Looking at the carbonfiber cover that's up on Nutz aswell so fingers corssed i can get that in for jully and then i'll be happy with my dials and interior.

Also looking at saving for new alloys. Either Works epuip 001s or Rota Zeros depending on prces...at this moment it looks like Rota Zeros lol
Rotas
Image
Works
Image
But these Rotas look awesome
Image

them 2 pictures above 9not the wheel on it'self) is the kind of look i'm aiming for...before i respray it lol

Today had some productivity about it...kind of

New reggy plate and reggy plate bracket hammerited up and installed
also u might be able to see the new (to me) BBs alloys i got..s.till waiting Center caps
Image

HKS mushroom filter fitted
Image

However i'm not so keen on the clearence from the filter to the washer bottle and those pipes behind it
Image

Also removed my style bar a few months ago and today i fitted a cabin brace bar
Image

this took longer than expected and i dont think it's correct as i cannot get the caps on the end and holes didnt line up nor were the ones on my chassis tapped...or big enough to fit the bolt provided...

Hi mate - Lovely car! :D

Just a quick question.
Where did you get the side mount bracket from? Is it an Ebay Jobby?

I got the same number plate bracket, yet to fit it though.

Progress is looking good so far, looks a lot better without the stripes on it
