Backdrop of Ben Loyal from Kyle of Tongue, not doing the NC 500 though did take in some of the roads as well as many others through the Highlands and Islands, 1000 miles all in, top down the whole time :D

A cracking hill to climb but quite a long day.

Beautiful mountain viewed from a beautiful road in a beautiful part of the country. Looks like a lovely clear day too. A bit windy?

I first climbed Ben Loyal in something like 1983 as part of a field course I was on. I was inexperienced and not as well waterproofed as I should have been and it absolutely chucked it down. What's more, the person leading the field course got us all lost in the fog at the top and we came down the wrong side, only realising our mistake once we got below the cloud so we had to go back up and over again. I have never been so wet in my life without actually jumping into a pool or something. And yet I still fell in love with the north coast.
