My New 1991 Eunos Roadster

I just picked this up today from Goodwood Sportscars in Berwick.

It's a 1991 Eunos Roadster, V-Special in Brilliant Black.

It was freshly imported from Japan earlier this year and is in really clean condition.

Recent work has included:

Replacement long nose crank engine
New mohair hood with glass screen
Retrimmed seats
Replacement doorcards
Respray
New exhaust backbox
New battery
Full service

The front bumper had no holes drilled into it so I asked Steve if he would fit an offset plate rather than drill holes in the bumper, and to be honest, I am not a fan of the black plastic plinths a lot of 5's have.

I drove her up from Berwick today, went the Duns road as it's a much nicer drive than the A1 and she sat at a steady 60 all the way, heaters on full blast (i'd forgotten how good the heater in a 5 is!).

Immediate plans are for an OEM front lip, and replace the MX-5 badge with a Eunos one on the rear, then maybe some suspension and a change to 15" wheels but the Daisies are in very good condition so no rush.

Nice car, great ride and a pleasure to drive on a nice day with the hood down.

You have gone to the trouble to get a mint example, Ok with a long crank engine.

Now you are thinking of harder suspension and less good ride with larger wheels.

Your choice, your car.

Had a slow puncture on NSR tyre so took it off to be fixed earlier today.

When it was off I had a wee look around the rear of the car. I know it had Redstuff brake pads fitted on the rear (replaced with OEM), and still has Redstuff fitted on the front (soon to be replaced with OEM as very squealy), and have been told by Steve from Goodwood that the front brakes have also been upgraded to 1.8 spec, but are those braided brake hoses I have fitted as well?

Looks like a previous owner spent a wee bit money on the braking system.

Ah, OK a quick Google looks like they are standard! Still, nice to see it's pretty clean under there :)

I have also bought some Koni Sport shocks and Eibach springs for a really good price, only done 5k miles so almost new!

Sorry buddy, Steve at Goodwood Sportscars had it done before I bought the car.

Might be worth asking him?

Thanks, I'll ask him in due course. Don't need it done immediately, but good to know.

Since you have braided hosing, and are fettling the brakes up anyway, you might want to consider bracing the servo like this:

Stupid price though..easy enough to fashion a home made solution if you have a turret brace fitted as it's simple to cobble up a bolt to press against the turret brace and the servo.
Why?
Well oddly the firewall is quite whippy being a flat panel and it flexes under brake pedal pressure. Bracing it hardens up the pedal feel..so they say.

Thanks OS, I have seen those combined as part of some strut braces as well and did wonder...

The front red stuff racing pads should be getting swapped with standard ones this week as they are just far too noisy for day to day use.

The car is back down with Steve at Goodwood/AK Automotive to fix an oil leak that had developed - looks like rocker cover gasket. Thought i'd make use of the 3 month warranty rather than start to get my hands dirty right away.

I am using the opportunity to get AK to also fit my Koni/Eibach suspension and set up a fast road wheel alignment at the same time.

Cannot wait to drive it back up the road to feel the difference!!

Looking into new wheels just now as well so she may look a bit different in the near future :)
