MK1 1.6 Roadster - just brought

Postby mnp1962 » Sat Apr 16, 2011 2:32 pm

I've been looking for an old MK1 1.6 for a while now but all the ones I looked at were full of the dreaded tin worm. This one turned up near John O'Groats and was imported in 2004. The underneath is rock solid and the cills, arches etc perfect. Even has a great chrome roll bar and wind deflector, seats perfect, roof as new. Drove it back last night and I had forgotten how great the MK1 was :D
Such a sweet engine and free reving, just need to spend a bit of time giving it some TLC. A small rust patch around the ariel which is easy to do, need to get rid of the horrid wheels (give me a shout if anyones interested) check the brakes and a pint of polish :D

There is a cracking Merlot for sale in the Wick area, saw it in the local rag last week.

Got rid of those horrid wheels and stuck some nice original ones on, spent a few hours polishing and treating the roof and it's looking better already.

Looks great! Original minilites always look good... And the time spent polishing it has certainly paid off!
