Gold wheels

Postby John H » Thu Mar 17, 2011 12:50 pm

The sun finally shone for a few moments yesterday, long enough to get the roof down and take a few snaps of the newly refurbished wheels ...

By the way, in the process I have discovered two excellent firms, one who does shotblasting and one who does powdercoating. (Berm Shotblasting and Kingdom Coatings). They have ajoining premises outside Leslie in Fife, at Strathendry Mill. Scruffy looking place, but good guys and good work for a sensible price. Might be worth knowing for those of you in Fife or thereabouts.

A good question, DVLA mistake I assume. It was imported in 2003, and they seem to have given it 2003 plates.

The gold wheel thing meanwhile has spread to my Porsche as well ...

Does that not give you grief at insurance and MOT time?

I would have thought that most insurers would have spotted that mistake and questioned it.

Personally, I would get DVLA to correct it/

No one has ever said a dickie bird about it. I bought the car with that number, and MOT and insurers have never questioned it.
I halfway plan to buy a private plate for the car some day, which is why I have left it alone this far.

My last experience with DVLA was laughable. I had an old Porsche 911 which I wanted to change the number on. I went to the Dundee DVLA with all the relevant paperwork, but they insisted on seeing the car, so I had to go home and get the car  . I parked it outside their office, and they gave me a row for parking there (like where else were they going to see it?) Then the woman came out with a clipboard, I kid you not, dressed in full safety gear ... yellow jacket, gloves, goggles and HARD HAT! She asked me to open the front lid, which I did, and then she peered inside and asked where the engine was? :? All so she could tick a box on a form.

I would rather stay well away from them.
