aerial motor

My aerial is stuck (fortunately in the up position) but the motor is running, so it sounds as if there's a stripped gearwheel inside. Has anybody else come accross this? Is it worth trying to fix it, or look for another one. Or just live with it?

If you are unlucky and you have to strip the motor the black grease gets everywhere.

Yes, i have been there.

Same position here..except mind is down.
As Andrew at Autolink explained to me the other day...if you hear a grinding & nashing of teeth (the ariel's..not yours) it'll possibly be the stupid Nylon tooth gear stripped.
TBH, mine can stay down till I get one off a wreck as the cost is horrendous to repair/replace.

Mx5 parts sell the genuine mazda mast for £26 or so. Just did mine last night. My one was stuck up but no gear noise. Stripped it and found dirty contacts. Broken mast removed and replaced and now running fine :)
