NSS event - the Wet Leaves Run

Postby Colin » Wed Oct 01, 2008 6:56 pm

I'm now taking names for the last NSS run of the season, formerly called the Autumn Run, on Sunday 19th October. At this moment time one or two of the finer details are missing, like ...

- where we start and finish
- where we go in between the start and finish
- where we're having lunch

... but you know that Tom is famous for his exquisite routes.

More details will appear at this link in due course.

Names to me by Tuesday 14th October, please.

Convoy confirmed as of 14th Oct
Colin
Tom
Malc + Eileen
Dave + Caroline
Alan + Margaret
Ron + Lynne
Andy Wylie + Laura
Malcolm Gray-Stephens +1
Willie Morton

Colin, I think I may have the original route somewhere on one of my computers. But for the life of me I can't remember where we had lunch.

Boo Hoo I can't go; my parents are up that weekend and I have to keep them entertained ..... can't justify abandoning them both for best part of a day!
A 5 in a garage is safe, but that is not what 5s are built for ...........is it?

Go on ... add "Soft" to your post Paul. .. Ian keeps gurning for a cafe face off.. he wants to add to the ante..

Seeing as it is still a mystery from all I could glean from the link at the top (OP) .. and Blairgowrie seemed mentioned as the Westerley point (excluding start point) .. with Crieff as the Easterly.. then there are at least 2 good ways to get to Blairgowrie I can think of .. mind you we did half one on the way to the Gathering :) ... the other starts at Fordoun, Fettercairn, Edzel, then wee high road to back of Kirrie, Alyth and onto Blairgowrie... which could be spliced with South Deeside, Cairn a'Mount into Edzel as alternative. This would be 1/4 into route join up...

Mind .. the alternative is Duthie Park 9 for Dundee by 10 on boring carriageway  .. well if 10 is the right time! Or take coast road from Stonehaven and add 15-20 mins.. actually.. now there is the idea .. I know a great little way into back of Dundee (Kellas/Baldovie) from Brechin that could follow on from Edzel ... this is going to add 25-35 mins to an A90 run but nice quiet near single track roads... but you then need to get through Dundee traffic a bit which would likely add another 10 mins.

So short answer is Duthie Park circa 8.10 for 8.20 as a rough guess... but this is all wide speculation so ignore it!

Hoping to post out the information sheet including route and timings Wed teatime, so hopefully you'll be able to firm up your plans. Sorry not to have been more precise before now.

Paul, didn't know you were joining us, but I take it from your posting that you are, which is excellent! Could you e-mail me your mobile number, travelling companion if any to get lunch numbers and your mobile number in case there are any last minute issues?
Cheers
