NS(E) Tech evening - Wednesday 13th August

Postby The Pram » Tue Jul 29, 2008 8:31 pm

No sooner said than done and the tech day requested on Sunday has been organised for Wednesday the 13th. Well, actually it's a tech evening so sorry if this prevents folks from further afield coming along but there will be a weekend one organised soon too.
The venue will be a garage near Bucksburn police headquarters that has been kindly offered by Mark (I'll post a link to google maps later). On hand will be our very own tech experts Malcolm and possibly Andy if he is here and the other Mark.
We won't kick off until after 6pm however.
Can you please indicate here if you intend to join us and what technical help you reuqire.

I'll start us off shall I........

I intend to be there if Rockdoc will bring his special allen key for an oil change in my S/C or if anyone else has a 4.5 (I think) allen key.

Will likely be there but think a timing belt may be a bit ambitious for an evening, will probably leave that for the full day.

Supercharger will just be an imperial allen key.. I have at least one set .. Mark with imperial cars should have one.. 3/16" = 4.76mm which is not uncommon..

Argh... the next 2 weeks and weekend I am nowhere near Aberdeen

Not sure it makes any difference to the rest of you/evening but very much suspect I'll just be arriving in China

Of course clear so far after 16th...

Just waiting to see if we are still on course for getting the garage in Bucksburn. Assuming we are then we need technical type people there to offer help for any issues that are brought up. Can I have a show of hands please as to who fits this category?
One final point, lack of tech help will mean that we postpone the event until we have the right "staff" on hand.

Have discovered I have a slight leak of brake fluid from drivers side back caliper. Garage not back from holidays till Monday so will have to wait and see if they can look at it before I dare risk driving any distance.
Will know better Monday.
So if no tech help is available I will not be too disappointed.

I'm not techy enough Lorraine, not even sure if I'm going to make it.

My new alloys will arrive early next week, and I need to fit them, and help my son service his Clio. If they come on Tuesday I'll fit them Wednesday.

God, its all go......
I'll make it if I can though, at least for the craick if nothing else...

Thanks Mike and Andy. Watch this space as it may well be postponed yet as still not heard from Mark. Will email everyone on Monday with a final decision.

Right folks, just spoken to Mark and the garage is still open for business
Here is the link to the road to the garage
http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?hl=en&ie= ... 34504&z=15

If you find Police HQ then turn into Howes Road then drive up a wee bit and take the track on the left up to the garage. I'm sure Mark will post here with a better description. Oh, forgot, Howes Road is pretty much in the middle of the map, off Inverurie Road, just before the round about. There is a splodge of green near the bottom so look just above that.

Due to everyone's work stuff kick off will be 7pm. Mark has a kettle and water, I'll bring the tea, coffee, milk and sugar but please take your own cup! Nae cup - nae fly!

We won't be doing anything too technical but with a bit og luck we can answer your questions (for 'we' read the chaps that turn up  )

You can treat it like a general pub night get together if you don't want to tinker with your car.

See you on the night

Splendid, I've developed a creak from the rear and liniment doesn't help  so would like to get the offending article elevated via the ramp to see if there is anything obvious moving that shouldn't 8)

woo hoo i have finaly joined this thing!

so the score for wedenesday night.

I have a bit of an issue with some of you guys ground clearance as the track to mine is steap and bumpy its not so bad but the first 3 meters are the worst. i shale be heading up tomorrow night to clear out a couple of cars so i will take a shovel and fill the worst put holes.

Ian as for you funny noise its all flat on your back im afraid we havn't figured out how to get the ramp in yet.

and paul if your leak is a caliper i will donate you one as i'm now sporting 1800 brakes so min are going spare.
