Cappy Run Sunday 23rd March CANCELLED

Postby The Pram » Mon Feb 18, 2008 12:58 am

Due to popular demand, we are having a wee run up to Fraserburgh starting from the Ellon park and ride. There is a rather nice Italian ice cream place there that is well worth the visit.
Who can resist the opportunity to have some double choc chip
Meet at the car park at 12 noon for a departure 1215-1230.
Please indicate here or on the North Scotland events section if you plan to come along. Tour leader for the day will be IanH - thanks
The run is of course weather permitting so keep your fingers crossed for no snow!

Please note that this run has moved dates from the 2nd to the 23rd.

I have hosted a proposed route for the highly nutritious Cappy run, ice cream and chips, both together if you like 8)

The file is an A3 colour PDF that comes in at about 1Mb so not too huge.

http://zaphod.www.idnet.com/5/CappyRoute.pdf

If by some bizzare accident you don't have a PDF reader or just want an alternative to the Adobe bloatware one try the free Foxit reader it's lighweight and quick.

Actually I'll just be back from somewhere warm and sunny (currently mid 20's to around 30 Deg) and hopefully de jet lagged by then

Well looks like I might be able to make this one as it's the long weekend off work. I've heard rumblings about them working that weekend but if someone doesn't give me full info tomorrow then I will be considering that weekend free.

Ice cream or chips will depend on the weather but it's most likely that it will be ice cream

Just looked at the map Ian and it looks a similar shape to a certain country

Was wondering if anyone would spot that, going to try and make all my run routes like country outlines, even if it means an extra 50 miles in the wrong direction

Have you seen the weather forecast for next weekend

UK Outlook for Friday 21 Mar 2008 to Sunday 30 Mar 2008:
The whole of the Easter Weekend looks like being rather cold. There will be some sunshine by day, but also showers, and some of these will be heavy and wintry, with snow over high ground, and perhaps to lower levels at times in many regions. Winds are likely to increase to gale force at times, perhaps even with severe gales for exposed parts, and bringing possible blizzard conditions to Scottish mountains. Winds should ease later Sunday and Monday, bringing an increasing risk of overnight frost. During next week, the weather should be quieter for a time with sunshine by day and overnight frost, before, less cold but still windy and showery weather spreads southeastwards by midweek.

Do we stay or do we go (is that a song title??). At least the ice cream wont melt

If it's thoroughly miserable then I'll probably make like Yogi and hibernate. A few showers and 60mph breeze won't stop me though, I'm getting used to wind burn and I've driven through hail with the top down. It hurt like hell but it's character building :D

It will be top of the agenda at the pub meet so a decision will be made nearer the end of the week and an email sent to everyone. I'm not keen to cancel but then I'm not keen to skite all over the roads in driving snow either
Will keep you posted.
