Nice little jaunt in the country.

Postby Detritus » Mon Feb 26, 2007 11:24 pm

Sunday 3rd March.

Meet at Tesco car park Elgin for 11am departure.

Follow A941 to Craigellachie
Left to Dufftown
At Dufftown take A920 to Huntly
Stop at Tesco car park to meet up with any East coast members.
(Approx 28 miles)

Leave Huntly at about 12.

Follow A97 - A944 - A939 - A95 .

Arrive Speyside Heather Centre back of 1pm. (Approx. 50 miles)

After lunch follow A95 through Aviemore and up to Funicular Railway. (Views from up here are particularly good).

That should leave everyone just enough time to get home before it gets too dark to be fun.

It's been a few years since I used most of these roads but if memory serves none are too major and the scenery is good.

Any suggestions or ammendments considered.

Sorry about quality of map had to scan it.

Sounds good to me. Hopefully the weather will hold out for us, but a little snow could be fun

It was almost exactly the trip I had in my head as a plan, will be my first trip this year to Aviemore but I tend to go a few times a year just because there are some great roads around there :D

It'll be nice to have you along.

I'll be taking the hard top off for this one so I hope the weather holds.

I came back from Aviemore via Tomintoul and Cockbridge etc last week in the Beemer. Still a wee bit of snow at the sides of the roads over the high ground but I'd be more worried about the amount of grit and crap that's spead all over the place. You could plant tatties in the gaps in my alloys at the moment!

Point taken.

However living in this area grit and stuff is pretty well unavoidable.

But if any one wants to suggest an alternative route I'm open to ideas.

I JUST WANT TO GO OUT TO PLAY!!!

C'mon guys, not many takers yet. You can always wash it afterwards (as the actress said to the bishop).
