Some reassurance please??

Postby Madboy » Thu Sep 25, 2008 1:23 pm

Hi all - been reading some of the great advice on here and thought I would reach out forf some help.

In the past I owned a 97P Mk1 MX5 1.8is which I loved. I dont have the car anymore but I am looking at rejoining the best car ownership years ever by getting another Mk1 5.

I have seen this car (mx5 Gleneagles) and I am told it belonged toa member of the Scottish OC (car even has the mark where the sticker was) Car looks well looked after - I was just wondering if anyone on here recognising the car from runs etc or maybe even owned it and can give me some history.

My only niggling concern with it is the mileage of 116k it has done... Large service and maintenance log. Also the car will need a hood soon (cracking at the sides) so this might help me get the price down LOL

Any help is greatly appreciated - - Car below

Sorry cant get pics to upload - - car is a special edition blue colour (that turns green when the sun hits it) - Champagne leather interior.. wood effect central console, gearstick etc... 1.8 - Gleneagles (apparently only 400 of them made) on a 96 N reg.

Thanks again
Madboy

And that is the one I was intersted in as I have a source for the full 'Gleneagles pack', still in the original packaging (including the Seiko watch).

Why don't you just put it up in the "For Sale" section?

Bad news guys - Missed out was due to go back and see the car again last night but it was sold

Gues it wasnt meant to be. Have my eye on 1 or 2 others I will ask your opinions on.

Thanks a million to Dot and Chas as well as Lowflyer and everyone who responed and helped with my questions. I am would rather take the time to get some history and risk losing a car rather than taking a risk if you know what I mean.

What do you think about this?

Blue, Eunos Roadster 1990 - done 90k miles 1.6 all the usual Eunos add ons air con etc. The thing is I cannot believe how immaculate this car is. zero rust anywhere - you could eat your dinner from the engine bay by the looks of things. Engine sounds sweet as a nut as well.

Only concern is that it is in import - (imported 2000 had 3 UK owners)

and that it is a 1990 - was originally looking for something 96 >

Any opinions guys.... I keep trying to upload photos but no luck yet.

Don't be concerned that it is an "import" They all are. Badge engineered in Hiroshima by the same workers on parallel production lines.
Bits are just as available as for one badged MX5..essentially the same car...loads of specialists who offer 24 hour delivery.
Buy on condition/price. My '94 Eunos is essentially rot free (so far)...whereas I've just shelled out £500.00 on my wife's 02 MK2.5 getting rot sorted. Imported NA's are sometimes treated with "suspicion"...never understood why. The crucial thing is to check all the aspects as you would with any old vehicle. In my opinion a good Eunos Roadster, with AC and all the other bits..is unbeatable & reliable value.
That's just my view...but one borne by increasing personal experience..and listening to others. Drive as many as you can..be very choosy....market is flattish and a buyer's sweetie shop at the moment.
Lots of sellers wearing rose tinted specs

I have no intention of selling the pack. I am just looking for a good condition Gleneagles to buy.

the gleneagles we had was showing it's age, wings starting to bubble, and almost 120K miles on clock - garage made a reasonable offer as a trade in so thats the way it went

but here are a couple that may interest you Bill
