Hi all - New MX5 owner.

Recently purchased my first MX5. It's a 1.8i S-VT Sport in Sunlight Silver with heated leather seats and other goodies. It was registered in Nov 01, so is this a MK2.5? If so, how does it differ from a MK2? Also not sure what the S-VT means. I'm a retired engineer currently catching up on all the jobs about the house and garden which i never had time for when i was working. On the few good dry days we have had of late it's great to be able to stop what i'm doing and go for a run with the hood down. What a different experience.

Hello, Sandy. Glad you're enjoying your car. Looks like you live in the ideal place for it too.

Hi there and many welcomes. :D

Your car is the right era for a Mk 2.5. Look at the piccie of mine, its a Mk 2, if yours has the vents under the headlights in the bumper moulding, thats the easiest way to ID a 2.5.

Wish I was a retired engineer, i still have about 12 years to go!

Hi Sandy and Welcome. Variable Valve Timing (in the Mx-5) was first introduced with the Launch of the Mk-2.5 in 2001, other giveaway is the built in headrests, Mk-2 had adjustable ones.
