Hi guys thanks for the welcome, Problem is intermittent misfire and seriously lacking in power only happens when warm though. After much reading I strongly suspect coil pack, had local tune up guy out twice and bloody thing behaved both times. So may just bite the bullet and get one from mx5parts.

HT leads OK?

MX5s are notoriously hard on them.

Hi Butcherboy

Welcome to the forum, good to have you along; what's your real name? I've had a Mark 2 1.8 Sport for over 5 years now. It is the business!

I'm the MX-5 Owners' Club Area Co-ordinator covering Dundee, so if you want to know anything about the Club, e-mail me at the address below. Having said that, you don't have to be a Club member to enjoy the forum, so there's no pressure ...

In the meantime enjoy the huge amount of information and wackiness which is the MX-5 Scotland forum and feel free to try out a couple of events.

And if you decide to join, I'll be waiting with a form ...
Cheers
Colin

Hi Joe,

Welcome to the forum.

Coil packs can burn out if the ignition is left on for a time.

Hope you get your problem sorted.

Cheers

Hi Joe,

Welcome to the forum, a repository of wit, good humour, technical excellence, occasional shafts of brilliance, regular and obligatory p-~~ take.

I cleaned the engine bay on my car, got the coil pack wet, and it stuttered around for a while till it was replaced.

Can benifited from a new set of Magnecor leads and decent spark plugs.

OH NO, Not someone else that cleans the engine bay with a toothbrush.

I'm taking my engine out tomorrow, There will be plenty of room for you to climb in and clean till your hearts content.

I've got a vibrating one.

My wife has a vibrating one too, but would kill me for using it on the car.

Welcome Joe, hope the car's not red else you'll be forced to move up to Buchan or the Moray coast.... although you may get let off and only have to go to Westhill :!:

Ignore my silliness, you'll have a good laugh here, it can get a bit mildly warm here but nobody ever seems to spit the dummy bigtime unlike some other forums 8)

He's got to wind up the generator, so he only comes on twice a night.
