Just wanted to say hi and introduce myself to everyone. I have just purchased a K plate white MX5 with a 2litre turbo cosworth engine. It is in need of some work and a lot of TLC as it has been off the road for a while but looking forward to getting her back on the road where she belongs. As you all seem like a friendly bunch, will possibly need to pick your brains as I start this journey into MX5 world. Looking forward to eventually joining you's in the flesh.

Have you had, or seen it running? What sort of power are you expecting out of it? Would like to see this once it's back on the road!!

Welcome to the forum :D

Is that the car that was on e-bay ? I think it had a fairly low tune cosworth engine to keep it reliable. Still seriously fast for a car so light  If it is that one, it looked very well done.

MX RS

Postby ALYMO » Mon Feb 26, 2007 8:59 pm

It had 350 bhp and was on the road for about 2 years before the home made prop managed to damage the gear box. It has an RX7 diff but everything else is standard as the guy had ran out of money. I am looking to strengthen it as much as possible, add a set of coilovers and upgrade to 4 pot brakes. hopefully this will be enough to make it fun rather than scary as the previous owner described it to me.

It's in a bit of a sorry state having been off the road for a while but as soon as I get my new roof, wheels etc will post some pics. To be honest probably needs about £4k+ spent on her to make her both presentable and safe, so the sale of my present car is needed to finance this new project. Hope to get out and about this summer and get a chance see everyone else's pride and joy.

Looks like you will need to do a tour of Scotland once your car is on the road. 8)
You can stop off at my house for a coffee
while I have a good look at your car
