Hello Scotland

Postby Laverda 3ce » Thu Feb 28, 2013 2:52 am

Hi all
Just thought we'd say hello after lurking on here for a couple of months.
At long last we have bought an MX5 after talking about it for ages.
As life long bikers age is starting to take its toll. Mgt. had to sell her bike last year after an op on her knee and I'm finding long trips killing my hips and knee.
A wee ragtop seemed the next best thing to take in your surroundings when passing through and having a social side made made us plump for the MX5. So here we are.
As webbed Toe'd Fifers living near the Tay Bridge, Tayside is our nearest group.
Hoping to meet up and get to some runs and events this year.
Cheers

Sandy & Mgt. :D :D

Thanks for the welcome guys. Waiting on Mgt. finishing work to go pick the car up.
Hope this weather is a good omen for this year. Will meet up with some of you at the run on the 25th as never pass up an opportunity to visit the WW Inn.

Well our first weekend of ownership and only 150mls done, due not to lack of enthusiasm, but lack of opportunity.
Enjoyed every minute of it and with the clubs tech section fixed a hood latch that wouldn't lock in place. On the lookout for a set of wheels next as two of ours are slightly buckled (pot holed). What's the pros and cons of 16s versus 17s ?

If it is a Mk1 or Mk2 the owners with 17" wheels advise that only the lighter weight 17" wheels are suitable.

If it is a MK3 or Mk3.5 you will notice very little difference maybe just a touch harder ride with 17" wheels and 45 profile tyres as opposed to 16" and 50 profile tyres.

i would spend a while getting used to the car before you spend money on wheels and tyres.

It's an 04 mk 2.5 1.8 Eddie and I like the look of the wheels that's on but 2 of them are buckled by potholes and 3 of them are kerbed. It's more a necessity than changing them for any other reason.
