Hello Scotland!

Postby kondorpilot » Thu Jan 31, 2013 12:07 am

Hi folks. Great local site and National Owners Club Forum. Nice to see a group locally which appears active and enthusiastic about these cars.

I have owned a Mark 2.5, 1.8 Sport and a Mark 3, 1.8 Option both sadly gone. Now in a position, being semi retired to indulge my enthusiasm again but the budgets been cut to about £2,000.

Never having owned or driven a Mk 1 I really fancy the idea of the basic drivers car as this is going to be a weekend toy rather than a day to day car. So I have been scouring the ads for the last few weeks with little success and limited cars for sale within 200 miles. So much more choice further away but a lot of travelling to do only to be disappointed by cars flattered by sellers descriptions and photographs. Continuing the quest to find my car and I would be obliged if anyone selling or knows of one for sale within my budget could PM me. Ian

Hello and Welcome.

Good luck with your search, I'm sure you'll find a lot of help here.

You could do a lot worse than contact Steve Bloxham at Goodwood Sports Cars near Berwick on Tweed (link below). Steve specialises in MK1's and has a good reputation as being straight, he would have cars in your price range;

Location: not the end of the world, but you can see it from here or near Inverurie.

Thanks folks,I am in Paisley and and can easily travel so Edinburgh would be fine. I am certainly prepared to travel but its always a gamble when you are going in somewhat blind but if I was getting an additional recommendation on a car, it would be less of a risk . l have been keeping an eye on Steves cars at Goodwood but have missed out on two recently. Many thanks for the welcome, encouraging replies and advice. Ian

I bought my car from Steve as part exchange for my mk1 and it is a solid car. Has broken down once at knockhill because it overheated due to a broken fan switch and Steve was one of the first people to come have a look and managed to find the problem and recommend a place to get a replacement part. Top man
