Single Donor Vehicle for Westfield

Postby rcoe74 » Mon Jun 25, 2012 1:43 pm

With apologies to anyone who feels that this is sacrilegious thing to do to a Mazda!

I am now the proud owner of a P-reg MK1 1.6 MX-5 MOT failure (sills need welding) and I'm intending to strip it down for the running gear to build a Westfield single donor vehicle kit car.

I'd be interested to chat to anyone else in the group who's done this but also more generally about tips for engine refurbishment and any workshops that members have found helpful (to a near novice) for engine overhauls. Looks like the closest one to me in central scotland is JEM Engines so I think I'll go and chat to them at some point.

I'm really excited about my new project, although don't have any illusions that this is a 3-5 year goal!

Thanks and look forward to hearing from anyone with thoughts,

best wishes,

Richard

Unless there is a problem do not touch the engine internals. Just use it.

Hi, if you require any help / advice contact Toby ( his is on here as exocet) he is almost completed his Exocet kit car. I believe he is taking to Aberdeen shortly for his SVA test.

Re any engine work my mate Kenny Wilson at Anderson Engineering in Kirkcaldy tel - 01592 - 654764. His mate is going to be racing a 1.6 Mx5 at Knockhill and kenny has just finished his engine rebuild last week,i saw it in the workshop as he put the finishing touches to the engine.

Alan Robinson of Cheshire north Wales races a Mk1 1.6 and he won cool car at the Spring rally in Falmouth.

cheers
