Si,
Great videos.
The one with me shows how crap I'd be in a race!
Once we'd got past the traffic (is that Tom???), I was so intimidated by your Clio looming large in my rear view that I turned in well early at MacIntyre, ran wide and was completely b*****d for the chicane

You can see the same 2 laps from my viewpoint at:
http://www.kevham.plus.com/Video/Knockhill_Si_lap.rm (18.3Mb)

From some other footage, your Clio seemed much quicker on the straights - is that your better lines out of the bends or does it have much more grunt? What are the Torque/BHP figures?

Can't wait for the August Dreadnought night now......

Thanks for posting that! Good to see it from a different angle :)

The Clio puts out 172bhp and an alleged 200NM torque. (I got the figures from http://cars.yahoo.co.uk/resultsmaxi_100354123_15792333 )

I'd like to think my lines are good anyway and that I can carry a fair bit of speed through corners (certainly in Steve's Gleneagles I was carry more speed than most), but it'd be naive of me to think that the power in the Clio had little to do with it. Coming out of corners the Clio is very quick to get the power down and on the straights it kicked all standard 5s in to touch.

You were one of the quickest, if not the quickest five that I came across through the corners (chicane excepted )

I'd rather have had my 5 any day of the week though :(

What kind of speeds were you guys reaching on the straights? Just curious.

Generally Mid 90s on the start finish straight. I reckon with a good exit from hairpin and late braking for Dufus I could nudge the ton.
My next outing I'm going to try a camera angle which includes the speedo.

I've revised my estimates. I checked my videos and I got just over 90 on the start/finish (see pic) and a wee bit more on the back straight.
So, I'd be really happy for 95 on a good clear run.
This compares to Goodwood where I could get just over 110 on the Lavant straight and Donington where it was between 100-105 on the back straight (under the bridge).
Folk think you go flat out but I've never been to a track where I've reached the max speed in top gear.

3 laps with Stan chasing the Clio

Ok Stan what's the info on your car ?
Suspension, Tyres, Brakes and Engine
Car looked very stable cornering and closed the gap under braking.
Great smooth driving too 8)
