.... for those that enjoy 'tracking' their car.

Thanks Douglas & Gavin for a great night!

Track great [as always], weather superb (on our way over the Forth bridge thought we might have been using foglights on the track!), company well behaved on tarmac, and marshalls spot on as ever.

1st black flag - "I've not done anything wrong !?!" protests Ivor ... "funny noise as car takes corners" reports marshall - reason was broken back mudflap/bumper [has been for ages  got new one all sprayed up but not fitted yet]. Taped it up with black gaffa tape and away we go again :o)

Timewise we started with 1 min twenties, got it down to a consistent 1m 17 secs and best lap time for us was two 1 min 14's - one with me driving, one with Ivor.

2nd black flag came on my last run of the night - trying to stay off the racing line I limped home with an engine sounding like a washing machine full of marbles

Richard had pointed out earlier in the evening that she sounded rough, and on the way up Ivor had said "sounds tappetty" ...

She had oil on arrival, but virtually none on dipstick by the end - after begging, borrowing and eventually buying some valvoline ( 1L - £5 !!) she was full again.

More marble noises resulted, and .....

Consensus seems to be stuck valve/valves- I'll post how I get on with getting her fixed .....

Thanks to all that stopped on the way past and offered help.

Brilliant night, be back on the track once the missus forgives me !

Just to add my thanks for a great night. Everyone was really well behaved and that makes all the difference to me.

I've just gone through all my vid and my clear laps were consistently in 1m 14s with fastest under 1m 13s. Quite pleased with the fact that the fastest laps were in my last session - so I must have been getting quicker.
Fastest Max5 cars went round last year in about 1m 05s. Slowest were about my pace  But I seem to remember it being wet?

Skarecrow came across today and helped out ( well he did most of it! ) - took the cam cover off and checked out the cams, followers, valve springs and valves ... all appear OK.

Appears to be the big end bearing ....

This is NOT what an mx5 engine should sound like ...

Anyone in Scotland got a spare 1.6 engine lying around ?
