[quote="The Pram"]Fee, thank god - another female :!:

Am I going to be the only girl on the track :?: or are the partners going to have a shot too :?:

Elaine is coming along and Tom's wife Olwen (OLY) and we are working on them to have a go as well, at least for a couple of laps

Would loved to have taken one of the spaces but i'm working in Coventry that week and can't guarantee that I'll be back in time as I'm driving back up on the Friday afternoon. If I'm back in time I'll come up to spectate and say hello to some of you folks, if not, have a great time 8)

Cheers

It may not be an all MX-5 event as it stands because I'll probably be bringing my Clio

Yeah, but only in your rear view mirror :?

I intend doing a spot of filming so if I'm in front of you, and you want some footage of your car on track, then don't overtake for a lap or two (camera will be pointing backwards for half of the event).

I'm hoping for rain  Nothing like a nice slippery track to sort the men from the boys

Actually, my tyres are brand new so I'd prefer rain to save wear.

Is anyone fitting a video cam for the evening? I'm looking at getting a new camcorder and was thinking of getting a 'bullet' cam too (see http://www.drivedata.com/prodcams.html) but I'm struggling to find a decent mini-dv camcorder with analogue inputs. Anyone got any suggestions?

Try this site, www.fastfilms.co.uk
Look on the members discounts section in the National forum coz I think they offer a discount aswell

The most popular bullet camera kits used by car drivers would appear to be supplied by rfconcepts. http://www.rfconcepts.co.uk/helmet_cameras.htm if you're interested.

The Canon MVX30i can be got from some Comet retail outlets (no longer available online) for just shy of ?300. Quality is excellent AND it has analogue input for a bullet camera. Cracking little camera that does exactly what it says on the tin :)

Si

I guess what I really meant was that I would rather keep it to MX-5 club members, as I have had a few bad experiences with track days at knockhill with a couple of Elise/Porsche boys who thought that they could do what they wanted as they had fast cars... ie overtake on the inside of Clarks when it was stated several times by the organisers and Knockhill staff only overtake on the straights. Basically they ran us onto the kerb and would have put us off the track  if Claire hadn't braked!

Pram

Don't worry Claire will be out on track as well.

We both can't wait, I for one am hoping that it is dry and we all keep out of the kitty litter.

Bowie and Claire

good news then. That sounds like at least 3 of us then if Elaine is there too.

Must say I am looking forward to it but a bit worried too

Our latest spanner in the works is that we might not be able to leave Aberdeen till 3pm but I am sure whatever time we leave we can still make it on time.

Well you had down before about Boydies pal Andrew Dempsey was wanting to come in his 106 GTi. The only problem I have is it also happens to be my friend aswell and I will never hear the end of it if its not all MX-5s.....

I am obv not taking part in the event but I will be there.....but I know he is really up for the track day but again I will understand if he can not come!

Cheers

The general concensus was for it to be all Mx-5's, it now looks like it might be that way, if we are short then everyone seems happy to pay a little extra.

Happy to pay a wee bit extra.

Si - I missed your originalpost about video
As I don't have a roll bar, I'm looking at a headrest clamped bracket (from Fastfilms) and I'll just mount the camcorder on that. I've ditched the bulletcam idea and I'm now looking at spending a bit more on the camcorder (maybe even hi-def) - its mainly to video the wee man (At least that's how I'm justifying it to the wife).

I've nearly got a fully rigged camera car now!

Bullet cam and new camcorder arrived yesterday. A bit of testing last night and all is operating well. I'm just waiting on a couple of mounts from fastfilms and I'll be in action. Hopefully they will arrive by Friday!

Douglas - couple of questions - what time do we need to be at Knockhill?
Are they running a blue flag system? If not, it might be worth a gentle reminder for folk to watch their mirrors and if someone is up close in the bends, ease off on the straight to let them past. - I got very hacked off at Goodwood being stuck for 3 laps behind a tubo'ed Mk1 who just put his foot down on all the straights, making overtaking impossible!
