Near Doune

Postby sbudge » Mon Jul 11, 2005 5:28 pm

Gave way to two MX5 travelling together heading away from Doune, one nice silver MK1 with central strip and the second was a red MK2.

Lovely day for a drive, but I had to use the passat to take family from Vancouver for a day trip :( .

I was out with Andy on Sunday and the closest we got to Doune was the Blair Drummond Safari park (no, we didn't go to see Andy's relatives ;)). Andy was in tow, but his was a merlot Mk1 (photos to follow sometime).

If it was me, thanks for giving way :) Hope I didn't force you to!

This photo was taken on a run I did round that way last Thursday with SteveO........ bloomin' amazing sunset!!!

My first "spotted". (Possibly)

I was on route from Balloch to Doune, using Tom Tom, so went roads I had not been on for awhile. No problem giving way, was only down thinking what I should have been driving rather than a diesel passat !!!!.

Spcially on a day like Sunday, were was the pic taken great sunset?

It wasn't a good day to be in a tin top!!

The photo above was taken somewhere on the road between Kippen and Fintry, and really not that far from where you said we passed you.

Still No Wave!

Postby joonspoon » Wed Jul 13, 2005 8:41 pm

Right!
I think it's a nasty rumour that any 5 owners wave!
I seen 2 today in the Paisley area - one bright green (mk2) and one silver
(mk1).
Flashed my lights and waved at the bright green one - no response whatsoever!
The silver one reg plate started "A1" I think and had Scotland flag on it, was just getting into my car and it passed me!
Anyone on the forum own these babies?!!!
It's been 8 weeks to the day I've had my car and not a feckin' wave yet! :x

Strangely enough, Linda and I went out for a run on Sunday and stopped so that I could take over the driving just south of the Tore roundabout north of Inverness. Two '5's', one nice looking red Mk1 and I think a BRG Mk1 came up behind us, both drivers flashed their light and gave hearty waves which we returned. The driver of the red Mk1 was a 'well kent face' from some of the runs and events we have been on, but I can't put a name to the face.

We also got waves from three Mk 2.5's later on that day on the back roads in Morayshire.

So, not all bad news.
