Lots of 5's - not 1 wave!!!

Postby joonspoon » Sun Apr 16, 2006 8:57 pm

Went for a drive today to Callander, roof was down, then up, then down, then up etc etc  You get the picture, right?
Still, had a fab wee drive and seen "LOTS" of 5's on my journey - but I am saddened to report - not a single wave! :(
My brother was finding the whole thing quite amusing! :P Me waving like a lunatic at other 5's and nobody waving back at me!
Think it's time to stop waving now

I'm with you June, I feel a bit stupid waving now cause no one waves back. I don't wave now unless waved at, or it's someone I know.

Hi Lorraine, you must have made good time on your trip home :)

We saw a couple of '5s' after we turned off in Contin. Unfortunately the roof had to be raised just after Dingwall due to very heavy rain.

It was nice to meet up with you on the Easter run and be able to put a face to the name.

Bill,

we got confused when you tooted and waved and thought it was you indicating where we were supposed to leave! I had said to Douglas that we would go to Garve then say cheerio - woops  .

We took the main road all the way back and it was very odd not being surrounded by 5's, and not at all nice. Country roads are much better too. Got the top up in Nairn for the rain, and managed it without even getting out of the car! That's progress.

Nice to meet you both too and maybe we can meet up in Brora sometime if the hotel is still there.

Keep waving!

Know the feeling, June.

On Saturday I went for a trundle down to North Berwick and wee scoot round the back roads in East Lothian.

Passed a couple of mk 1s and a mk3...each time my cheery wee wave was greeted with a "who the feck are you" kinda look

PS Just cos you're not paranoid, doesn't mean that they're not all out to get you :?

Thanks folks for some good advice, I think :? (
Although a bit of a mixed bag, it has given me new hope! :P
I will continue to wave like a lunatic UNTIL I get a response from the non-waving bunch out there!!!
I feel better already :D
June

ps Kristoff, what can I say? A man as handsome as you are should be used to all the dolly birds giving you attention by now, surely?

June, as Graeme said he justs wears them down. I had the same around Dunfermline. People would look at me as though I was Mong from the planet Zog driving a Bronze 5. Eventually they started to wave. Now they're even more confused by this fecking loon waving from a red Mk3 LE.

waves

Postby Baron von Ripper » Tue Apr 18, 2006 7:56 pm

Took this post away from my fingers !!!!!

Its a disgrace the amount of non-believers that appear to be out there !!!!

Went to loch long on friday...think i had my 2 heads on that day judging by the glaykit stares i was getting in return for my waves - mostly coming from my missus by the way - the "5" drivers never even noticed me. I think their eyes are painted on at the moment.......but keep waving, we MUST convert these sinners !!!!

PS..to rodster. Went to North berwick for the weekend (superb), so if the Mk3 was BLUE.....it could have been me... ......I don't normally miss anybodymind you, but sorry if i did

Unfortunately I don't think its just mx5/eunos owners that this applies to.

I have a motorbike too and when I first started riding ( a few years ago now  ) you were guaranteed a wave from every biker you saw but over the last few years the waving is getting less and less.

I still persevere when I'm in the car or on the bike and its always nice to get a wave back so everyone here should 'save the wave' 8)

Don't worry B von R, the mk 3 which ignored me was a silver one.

Think I probably did see you though when I was out for a wander in North Berwick...now you don't really expect to see pedestrians waving at you

Nope, that must have been some other stalker

Was gutted, though, to discover there was no trace of a Luca's ice cream van in NB

Looking back over old mail feels a bit like raking over old coals, but if the subject matter is relevant .....join in. This is guidance especially to new members. In this instance I have over the past month been wavin' at 5's like a loon and getting nowt back. There seems to be a fair amount of 5's in the west side of Edinburgh but none of them seem to be in the know

but will tow the party line and "Save the wave"

Seem to recall that VW beetle drivers used to wave to each other - showing my age again perhaps!!!

Cheers

Y' know Ken you are absolutely right. In the 70's I had 2 Beetles and drivers did wave to each other on the road. Mind you in winter I was never sure if they were waving or frantically scraping ice and condensation from inside the windscreen because the heater as you may remember being worked off the cooling faan was absolute cr*p.
