I went to check my flight details and if there are no delays, which is unlikely on the Saturday of the Easter weekend, then I'm scheduled to land back at Edinburgh at 17:00.

Given that we won't collect luggage and taxi home until say 18:30, I think a 220 mile drive to York will not be feasible. It is therefore with more than a little regret that I have to withdraw from the run....?:o(

Easter in York(shire)

Postby Dot and Chas » Sat Jan 22, 2005 6:51 pm

Hi
We are looking to book the hotel this weekend for the Saturday and Sunday nights and it will (hopefully) cost approx ?65-?75 a couple per night for Bed and Breakfast .Petrol ,drinks and Dinner will be extra!
We are looking at the Bridge Hotel in Wetherby or the Talbot Hotel in Malton.I know neither are actually in York but parking at York hotels and driving in and out of York could be a problem.
If anyone has any preferences please let me know asap as the hotels are booking up fast.
So far:-
Dot and Chas
Bill and Linda
Richard and Eileen
John and Heather
Shaun and Mary
Sandy and Margo
I am making the booking through Superbreaks as I can get 10% off but they require a 20% deposit .
Let me know if you wish to join us!

Looked at them both on the internet, both have pro's and con's.

Bridge Hotel jost off A1, couple of miles from Wetherby.

The Talbot is likely to be more scenic with easy access to Malton, its certainly on the right side of York if you plan to visit the coast on Easter Sunday.

On the Sunday we have arranged a meet with the North Yorkshire Area, led by Steve & Liz-Crook Dawkins, who will entertain us with one of their favourite runs. The run will start and finish in Weatherby and should be around 100 miles, with a lunch venue provided.

Postby CharlesK » Thu Mar 24, 2005 12:46 am

Dot and Chas
I hope the que is a bit shorter than the last time i saw you two waiting on a butty at abington - hope you all have a good weekend in York - at least you have a translator in Richard but I am not too sure how Gavin will do with the Dutch - still I suppose he might turn a pair of clogs into the latest headgear. HAPPY EASTER to all on the York weekend
