CANCELLED

Postby graeme » Sun Jan 02, 2005 11:30 am

The weather forecast is sufficiently poor to prompt us to cancel this run. Sorry for the late notice. See you on the 16th.

Can't be helped! :( Thanks for the call, Doug.

Trouble is - got "G1" down the drive (live on the hill) - and now I can't get it back up again!

Never mind - we'll just have to find somewhere to go.... via the salt bin! :D :D

See you all soon!

2nd January run.

Postby andy & helen » Sun Jan 02, 2005 9:00 pm

Dear Graeme,
Did not get notice of cancelled run, sat at Harthill for One
hour. Dave and Joan ( from Ayr ) turned up at 11 15. We had a small run anyway. Must confess the weather was bad so we kept the hoods up.
Both of us were MX5 run virgins. Hope to catch up with you next time
Happy new year, andy & helen.
If it goes round and round or up and down then maybe i can fix it. Andy

I was worried that this might happen as it was about 9am when we cancelled. I'm sorry you sat at Harthill for an hour (I can think of better places and weather to sit for any length of time). I hope it won't put you both off coming on future runs with us. Douglas and I looked at the weather forecast and also looked out of our respective windows and decided to play safe. The weather forecast was for icy minor roads and snow on inland hills which was a pretty accurate description of the route we had planned. For a run which was always just a quick run and a walk after lunch, it just wasn't worth going out. The hotel weren't surprised when we phoned them either.

As a reminder to everyone, (and this is not aimed at Andy or Dave), I knew of 2 people coming to this run, which is probably two more than I know of for most runs. If we are given some notice that you are coming and if you PM the AC* with your mobile number we can phone you direct in the rare event that something goes awry.

Apologies once again, both for cancelling and for any inconvenience caused.

Graeme

*I say AC and not "me" as this was to be my last run as AC anyway.

Simon...sorry about that, I did consider calling you, I phoned round as many people as I could think of that had indicated they might have gone, it was one of those decisions do I risk waking people up at an early hour on a Holiday Sunday.

Sandy did in fact go to Harthill (Thanks Sandy) in case there was anyone there, he did meet Dave & Caroline who had come down from St Andrews but must of just missed David & Joan and Andy & Helen.

Hi Douglas,

We were nearly there too, had the car cleared and warmed up.

I checked the website just before we left as I was suspicious of the weather conditions. It was icy here with a scattering of snow, which means it is usually worse in Harthill (It snows there in the summer).
It was probably safer to cancel the run.

I did email you on the 29/12 to tell you we were going.

See you all at the planning meeting.

New Year Run

Postby Davie L » Mon Jan 03, 2005 3:07 pm

Douglas

I have managed to cure the problem of logging on - thanks to Simon - enjoyed my day out yesterday anyway. Although the weather in Ayrshire was OK we only hit snow on leaving Glasgow for Harthill. Had a coffee with Andy and Helen (thanks to them) and enjoyed a carvery lunch at the Fenwick Hotel on the way home so the day wasn't completely wasted.

Hi Douglas,

Probably my contact details are different now, it didn't cause any problems anyway.... I'll transfer numbers with you at the planning meeting.

See you there.
