Vandalised Mk1 - Help!

Postby kerralexander » Sat May 25, 2013 5:04 pm

Hi everyone, posting to see if there's anyone in the central Scotland area that could possibly help out my dad - some kind person decided it would be a great idea to open his MX-5 like a tin of beans in order to steal a CD changer (worth about a tenner) and a set of jump leads (probably worth more than CD changer).

A hasty repair involving tape has been made, but it's not really a great solution as the tape is struggling to hold the cut closed.

As the car is in daily use, if anyone has a hard-top they aren't using during the summer a short term loan whilst the roof is sorted would be much appreciated. The hero would be suitably rewarded with their preferred tipple!

If this isn't possible then help sourcing one to buy would be great too.

Anyway, enough of the bad news. I'll leave you with some pics of when the car belonged to me.

In Wales on holiday in 2007

In Le Mans with the MX-5 Owners Club in 2008. That's my dad, trolling with his MG hat!

If you need a new soft top there's a guy in Callander called Jason who does them.
I think he does them under the mx5 Scotland hoods website.
2009 Convertible Coupe 2.0L Sport now that the 2005 LE and 2007 Z Sport Limited are dead.

The same thing happened to my first mx5 when I lived in town, nothing stolen but the hood was ruined. I kept the weather at bay using gaffer tape stuck on with superglue, coated with boot polish, which worked for a month before I got my new roof done by Richard at mx5scotland.com

also consider Steve at goodwoodsportscars down in Berwick, he is now doing hoods too.

Hope you get it sorted soon

Thats the dumbest place to go through a roof to break in... but then intelligence probably doesn't rank highly.

If its new you want go to Richard or Jason
http://mx5scotland.com

They have a wide range of prices and styles

Tried and tested and recommended.
